the cheating scandal at UNC, would Butch Davis be a bad hire? If this year would have gone as predicted for UNC, Davis would be a home run IMO.

No because he hired a guy that had a shady history.

I wanted him 6 years ago when Miles was hired. Now? frick. No.

Miles would not have gotten UNC to a bowl game this yr.

Davis rebuilt Miami after their probation and handed a NC team to Coker when he went to the NFL...the guy can recruit and coach...

Although most disagree (and I don't know why) I think Butch Davis would be an awesome coach. He ran a clean program at Miami and created one of the best teams/dynasties of college football, then goes to UNC and makes them a really good team. Dude is a great recruiter and good football coach. He's a winner on the college level.

I'd take just about anyone over Pelini. Not a fan.

Easily.
My top coaches to replace Miles if he leaves would be Butch Davis, Gus Malzhan, Pat Fitzgerald or Dan Mullens.

Why does Davis' name keep coming up? What has he done to gain such respect? He's an average coach. LSU can do much better.

Really? What did he win at Miami? What has he won at UNC?

Are you this stupid. He had a one loss season (which is why he wasn't in the National Championship) with Miami (and he destroyed Miami in the Sugar Bowl) before he went to the NFL. UNC was 54-63 before he got there and turned them into a good team.
Oh yeah, he has a Super Bowl Ring, is 79-43 overall, won 3 Big East Confrence Championships and led UNC to their first wins at FSU ever and Virginia since the 80's. He's a good coach. Ask the two dozen first round NFL players he recruited and coached.

Hopefully the powers-that-be would be targeting folks born after 1960.

Man, I'm not a huge fan of Davis but seriously? WTF did Parcells ever do as a head coach?

People forget how much he turned those teams around and he has turned UNC into a contender.
Hell, they stayed in the ACC conference title race throughout the season despite losing tons of starters.
