Admittedly Campbell is not at the top of most LSU fan’s lists, mine included. There are candidates out there with better resumes for sure. However I would NOT consider this a bad hire if it were to come to fruition. He would be head and shoulders over O without question. I know that’s not saying much but he could actually be very successful at LSU. I mean who here would think he’s as dumb as Miles? I sure don’t. I would take Miles’ record of success thru his first 7-8 years and I think Campbell could replicate that easily.

If Campbell is the hire, then I hope LSU people can keep two things in our brains at the same time. First, Campbell is a solid coach who may succeed wildly at LSU. Second, the Woodward "white whale" nonsense - and the garbage that he "had his guy all along" - was the biggest marketing joke in the history of coaching searches.

This is a hire that wouldn't completely piss me off, but it's an underwhelming one.

Alot of people will bitch and moan until they see the team he puts on the field.

People here hated Les Miles before the first snap of the football because of his headset, him looking in the stands for his wife, and they NEVER let it go, despite a national championship, and a second title game appearance.

Say what you want about his offense later on, but he put skins on the wall for damn near ten years, yet LSU fans still hated him for trivial bull shite in 2005, and never ever stopped to examine the record and give up the pettiness.

imagine if he hired a big 10 guy who was

6-5-1
6-6
7-5
6-6
9-2

Sometimes the record is not as indicative of the coach as it is of the institution the coach is working for.

But I hope it isn't Campbell.

Most LSU fans on here would bitch and moan about it but then theyd quickly get over it once they see the kind of teams he puts on the field. Campbell is a hell of a football coach and I have no doubt that he would develop players and get the best out of them. Theres a reason he’s been conference coach of the year 3 x’s. With the talent he’d be able to get at LSU, the guy would definitely do great things.
