re: If Lane signs at LSU, my opinion is that it’s as big as when Saban was hired

It will definitely turn LSU-Ole Miss rivalry into what it was when Saban was at Bama.
Once it’s announced Gameday going to lock up that date immediately for Lane’s return to the Vaught

It wasnt a big deal when Saban was hired moron. he was just a guy then

Saban with Emmert's help changed the trajectory of LSU's program. So no, it's a big hire but not as big as Saban was. LSU would be Ole Miss without Saban

The Saban hire was nowhere near the hire this would be. Saban was relatively unknown and far from a splash hire at the time
Hell, Chicken didn’t even open the Coaching Changes board for it.

I don’t remember the Saban hire being seen as a splash hire. Most remembered him as the guy we annihilated in the independence bowl a few years before.
Almost no one knew who the hell he was. Out of the gazillion names that people were excited about/arguing should be our next coach, his name was never mentioned. It was like, WHO?
Turned out to be the best thing ever. Props to Mark Emmert.

100%. I think folks wanted Butch Davis or Dennis Erickson.

1) that is blasphemy
2) i honestly don't think Lane is a good coach. track record up till Ole Miss is not great, and he hasn't stayed anywhere that long and has no hardware to go with it

When we were playing Ole Miss in Oxford earlier this year, I kept saying, “I wish he were our coach, instead of Kelly.” I can’t believe it’s actually happening.

I was excited as everyone last night but something tells me this is going to be as bad as it was when Saban announced he was going to Miami.
I just can’t get past the leaving his team in a run for a championship to go somewhere you think can get you a better shot at getting to a championship.
He’s going to have the resources at OM to buy a roster and build what he has.
But then he pulls this crap, does he get the same love and trust if he stays? Frick. IDK
Frick you CCB and my negatiger personality disorder.
