Seems like generally universities don't straight line the buyout so I wond r how Ags protect themselves here

PS surprised Sumlin buyout not reduced by future job. He will find work unlike Les

PS not a shot a Les love him. Just clearly it isn't happening

I'm pretty sure Coach Saban has a one way buyout at Bama meaning Saban is protected from being fired but the University is not protected from another school or NFL team poaching Saban from Bama. Maybe Jimbo has a similar deal worked out by Sexton? It's a good question OP no doubt.

If this is a guaranteed contract then the Aggies are dumber than I thought.

If they are offering that kind of contract it feels like they are not too concerned about protecting themselves.

In some ways maybe it is more stablizing if in year 3 you go 6-6 you are firing Jimbo and recruits a s everyone knows it

I don't think any coach, including saban (whom I think is the gold standard) is worth 10 years.

What do you do if in year 3, 4, or 5 you see lack of production on the field and recruiting trail. You are stuck. Either let the program die for an extended amount of time or financially tied where you can't hire one of the best coaches available.

This happens to much. I'm not overly concerned about the amount of money they make, the years are concerning to me. What incentive does a guy like jimbo have? he's already secured, how do you keep him hungry?

Seems to be by year 7 or 8, the fanbase is tired of that one coach.

Especially after a 6-6 season and an Indy Bowl game in Shreveport.

I thought it was a ten year guarantee...so no real buyout, other than they owe him his full salary if they can him.

Everyone worried about the 10 years, like they’ve never seen a coaching contract before. Illiterally the buyout is all that matters. If he wins we’ll give him 20 years.

I hate the Sumlin contract, but it might not be a total outlier.

Jimbo's buyout at FSU if he were to be fired doesn't contain a mitigation clause (at least the FSU contract doesn't--perhaps there is one with the booster non-profit corporation, but the main contract made no indication of it).

What about for his staff? Jimbo, if I'm not mistaken, has been frustrated FSU won't pony up for his staff.

I wonder what he got aggy to agree to for his staff.
