Good post.
Meyer is a great coach, but I've long said things fell in his favor TREMENDOUSLY during his tenure for all the success he had.
-Tennessee down
-Miami and FSU down
-Georgia starts downturn
-No other prominent team in the division
Considering that during Miles tenure two other teams in our division have gone undefeated, one of them has won a National Title and another is playing for one as a favorite to win this year...

Les is not going anywhere! Mt reasons ...
1. He would have to assemble a coaching staff.
2. He would inherit recruits that RR and his staff lured there, which some are sure to bolt now.
3. He would be behind in the recruiting war since it is almost over.
4. I honestlt don't think Michigan will pay him much more than he is already making.
5. He knows he would be playing in a much weaker conference. He recently mentioned after the Alabama game that this is what's its all about.
6. He loves LSU depsite the fact that there are negative whiners out there always calling for his head.
7. He is established. He also knows his football program may be in line for another National Championship next year and maybe contend for quite a long time with his recruiting efforts.
I say just stop worrying about it. He would have left long ago when they first asked him if he really wanted the job.
My 2 cents

quote:i don't care if he does interviews in pig latin. my issue with him is our teams seldom look well prepared or coached. it struggles to execute and plays to the level of the competition. playing up is fine, but far too often lsu has had to pull a win out in the last minute(s) against teams that aren't nearly as talented because they weren't prepared.
theres still going to be idiots that want to run him off because he talks funny.

quote:I for one am a born-again Miles Booster and also hope he doesn't leave LSU. He's weathered a lot of kr@p and has kept a great public attitude in spite of it all. That speaks volumes to me, along with all the true things you said.
I for one hope he doesn't leave because he feels unwanted and LSU ends up with a Lloyd Carr type situation.

and Michigan offers me the job, I'm leaving. Hell I might even have my agent call them and let them know I'd be interested. Not even because of the alma mater part. Miles would be embraced at Michigan from the start and would likely bring them back from the pile of crap they are now and would be an icon. Les Miles is 61-17 at LSU with a national championship,4-1 record in bowl games. His worst season was 8 win and LSU fans are ready to run him out of town if he sneezes on the sidelines.
LSU fans would love to have Urban Meyer. Meyer went 9-3 in 05, 9-4 in 07 and 8-5 this season. I suppose LSU fans would have been ready to run him off too.
Spare me the non sense that he took Florida to 4 BCS bowls and Miles has been to only two. How many more SEC title games and BCS bowls do you
This is all true. Plus for LSU it would be bad timing considering the recruiting class we have, the players coming back and a tough schedule too boot. Need continuity. All I ask is that Les change OC's. We have to have a better offense and I think that is what has many LSU fans disappointed. A lot of talent to be ranked in the 90's out of 120 offenses in D1.

think Miles would have taken LSU to if we played in the SEC east against Kentucky, South Carolina, UT and Vandy every season? UT has been down for a few years, SC is generally mediocre and UK and Vandy flat out suck.
I think Miles is a good coach. Hes recruited well, won a title, kept the school out of trouble with the NCAA. I for one hope he doesn't leave because he feels unwanted and LSU ends up with a Lloyd Carr type situation. /rant.
