If Chip and Philly really do part ways, would he choose us over USCw?

Color me as skeptical (but obviously hopeful).

Let him go there. That style of offense won't win consistently in the SEC.

In before....he HAS to go west!

it's interesting really.
many just feel he is a "west coast guy"
so naturally assume he would go back to the pac.
idk why but i have this weird feeling he probably admires or respects LSU.
would be interesting

What makes you think he wouldn't adapt the offense. His stint in the NFL has likely made him a better coach.
Home run hire

Urban only won 2 national titles in his what, 5 years at florida running a similar offense

Would be like Saban going to Alabama... Oregon fans will hate his guts.

I don't think go to either but people overrate his west coast ties

According to the "sources" he is not an option for USCw.

Why?

It's incredible. People were saying the same exact thing with Urban Meyer and he came in and completely wrecked shop.

Just seems like a West guy. While I don't think this will be the same thing success wise, it kinda reminds me of Nick Saban.
1) Build a program up
2) Leave them loads of talent and great coordinators/assistants
3) Try your hat in the NFL
4) Realize you are a college coach
5) Go back and be successful at the traditional and premier powerhouse in the previous conference you coached in.

or you know he could go to the Titans or any other NFL team with an open head coaching spot.

Urban didn't run a blazing fast uptempo, point a minute offense and actually cared enough for a defense worth a crap.
I won't say he's a bad hire, he'd be damn good except for defense, but just not better than Jimbo. Jimbo checks every box on the list
- QB mastermind
- Offensive genius
- Actually wants a defense
- Has won a national championship
- Has won his division 4 of 6 years and conference 3 of 6 years (last 3 in a row)
- Has heavy recruiting ties to Florida and has recruited Louisiana territory extensively
- Recruits national as per his time at Auburn, he used connects to lure Russell from Alabama. He did this again and lured Jameis Winston from Alabama to Florida St. Lured the top DE from Virginia last year, and many more
- Coached 7 years at LSU
- Runs a modern pro style offense that attacks every level of the defense. Since we already run pro style, it won't be a huge transition for us.
Now I will say that what he ran at Oregon would be hugely successful with Louisiana QBs and athletes. I just think he is more of a West Coast guy and Jimbo a southern guy. Plus it would take a couple of years to transition to that style while Jimbo can hit the ground running.

There's bad blood between Chip Kelly and the USC program.
Cowherd and Dan Patrick have both mentioned the USC search, and both have mentioned Kelly is "not on the list."
It could be a smoke-screen, but it fits with things I've heard about USC's attitude towards Kelly. Most USC fans seem to have a grudge against Kelly and most seem ambivalent on hiring him.
If Kelly is leaving the Eagles, and USC isn't open, LSU or Miami would be the best jobs he could get... and LSU has more money to spend.

I doubt it. Although crazy as it sounds, I could see a guy like Kelly picking a job like Miami over us. I feel like he does not have the personality or temperament for the bubble that is any big sec coaching job. His offense would work great in the acc and he could get arguably better talent there than he did way up in Oregon. He also wouldn't be under the microscope like he would from local media as its a big city where he would be just one section on the sports page.

I said similar in a thread a few hours ago. I don't see him coming to LSU. More likely USCw or another NFL team.

Yeah, it'll turn the 'Bama vs LSU game into a legitimate 10-years war.
