dude, notre dame still pulls in the players. it really isnt a big deal. driving 4 hours vs flying 4 hours isnt a big deal, especially with a school that has that kind of dough

a lot of it is due to a ND bump.
They aren't pulling in the same level of talent that LSU, UF, Bama, UT, Ohio St, hell even OU are bringing in.
not being able to rely on any direct pipe line is always a challenge

yeah, but i think that weis was a terrile hire from the start. hes just not a college coach. i think stoops would wreck shite at nd, considering he has strong roots in the midwest, plus can go anywhere and compete due to his helmets being gold

I know people say ND is a coach killer program, but you get to recruit Illinois, which has some good talent not to mention friggin’ Chicago. Then you also have the Subway Alumni which allows you to treat NYC as a home territory. And that TV deal allows you to recruit everywhere.
ND has a rabid alumni, good recruiting, their own special path to the BCS, an inroad to every Catholic kid in the country (I’m Catholic, hate Notre Dame, but if I were a recruit… yeah, I’d listen to the Golden Dome), and more money than they know what to do with. Yeah, everyone is on TV. Not like Notre Dame. In the right hands, Notre Dame could absolutely be a juggernaut. And since every coach is an insane narcissist, who wouldn’t want to be the guy who turns it around?
I think they’ll still get a big name. I still think it’s a very attractive job. Oklahoma, OTOH, is an awful job when you start to look at it. You have to raid Texas to survive. If A&M ever gets good again, that Dallas pipeline could close up.
