Then they should still hire him if he rolls table minus bama. Common sense 101. Adding wins against FL Arky A&M

I really feel we beat Bama this year

I think it's one of our most talented teams that is also finally one of our most loose. Perfect combo

I hate that a hire would hinge on this without a thorough search.

Even if we only dropped one I would still prefer LSU go after big names

I never root for LSU to lose, but if it takes a loss to Bama for Coach not to get the job then I hope Bama wins. I don't hate Coach O it's just we can do so much better than him.

Qb and oline is a major issue for us. I expect Tim Williams and Jonathan Allen to go off. I fear for Etling tbh

Relax, man. Your buddy will be given the job if the team is just competitive in the remaining games. It's obvious that the powers that be are all in on Coach O. If he doesn't go 0-4, the ball is his.

This is why you wait until the regular season is over and look at the whole body of work. It's not strictly about the wins and losses, it's about whether or not Orgeron's coaching caused the win or loss. This team is talented but has holes. How he mitigates that will go a long way in showing me if he's up to the task or not. For example, LT is a concern for me, and Les could never seem to land the right guy there. If O lets Etling get killed off the edge it will tell me he's in over his head. If he finds a way to neutralize that deficiency or even exploit it, say with well designed screens, then I will give him credit for that and feel like we're in good hands.

I just hate that any coaching prospects can't even put LSU on top of the list because it's technically not open unless CEO loses at least 2 of the next 4 games.

Yep, this is where I am . And I don't give a damn what anybody thinks about it. If this is true then our dumbass AD has once again put us in a position of needing LSU to lose to save "us" from ourselves. That and the idiot fans clambering for this suicidal move.

I hope this is all a smokescreen and they are letting interested candidates know that Coach O is not being seriously considered.

If other candidates start getting the idea that they have to prove themselves over a 10-25 coach they may not even bother. They may conclude that this administration is incompetent and doesn't know what a good coach is, which is something we know already.

I'm assuming they believe that beating Bama means we win out. Who else could beat us left on the schedule in that scenario?

The only way I would solely put it on this one game would possibly be if he managed to hand Bamas arse to them in a huge way. Like 45 to 7 kind of scenario. Then I might consider it being ok.

not close. if beating bama is that good of an accomplishment, so should be running through Mizzou, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Arky, FL, and A&M.

then

they are as dumb as I think they are.

Basing the coaching decision on something so incredibly short-sighted would be ridiculous.

Neither of those things should decide his fate.
