Maybe so.
We would prefer to win big games at LSU, though. Do we really want a coach whose nickname is “Big game Bob” ? … And that was while he was still in his prime and you only had to win 1 playoff game to win it all and before the Big12 had a conference championship game.

I’d prefer Tucker over Stoops tho. At least there is potential for a national title with Tucker, only because we don’t know about Tucker and what his potential ceiling could be.
There’s no potential to win a national title with Bob Stoops.
And trust me, I’m not pumping Tucker…at the moment, I’d be disappointed if Tucker is the hire

Yes, a loooong time ago. Over 2 decades ago.
Stoops had no Big12 CG, basically just needed to win 1-2 big regular season games each year, and his ticket was punched to the national title game….and still only got the 1 title in mostly a “pre-SEC-is-king” CFB landscape
Don’t get me wrong, Stoops is a good coach, a legend if you will, but would be an awful hire for LSU in 2021.
It would make headlines, some fans would get excited, but it would be an awful hire for a program that aspires to win national titles in THIS decade.
I’m genuinely concerned he may be the hire. A couple people have mentioned his name to me in passing, and I’m just trusting that Woodward is smarter than that. I know he’s smarter than that.

Bob Stoops is one of the few candidates I would really really really be disappointed about and have a hard time finding a way to get excited about.
