If that's the case, I doubt that we'd hear anymore complaints about the defense looking flat and uninspired. Out of position maybe, but in a motivated way.

If O is the DC, then Les will have made a career limiting move by hiring an inexperienced DC with no track record of calling plays and united an entire defensive squad. DL is OK, but DC is a really risky move for the program. Motivation is one thing --- trained to make good in play decisions is another.

belowpar said that he was offered the job as DL coach. I believe this to be true and I would be surprised if he is the DC, given the need for us to hire a proven DC.

I still think it is Chavis at DC and O at DL (with other added duties).

Assuming he will be on the staff next year, I think he could eventually be the Dc especially if we hire Walker and he bolts in 2-3 years, but right now O would be best at coaching the d-line and firing them up and killing it on the recruiting trail which i have no doubt he will do.

Wasn't that an old Cholly Mac defensive axiom? When in doubt, hit somebody. If you're in the wrong place, out of position, or are in blown coverage, at least hit somebody doing it.

I think that a Chavis/Orgeron combo would be freaking awesome. If the chemistry turns out good LSU will be in the mix for the SEC and crystal ball for many December's to come. Especially with the way Miles is assembling this possibly historic recruiting class.

JJackson and RRandle need to stay home and be a part of this also. Miles isn't going anywhere, he has handled everything at LSU with class since he's been here. LSU will rebound next year and possibly have historic seasons in both 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.

I spoke to a guy who asked Orgeron personally after the LHSAA State Championship if he was coming to LSU. Orgeron said all Miles had to do was "pick up the phone".
