Yes, unemployed but he isn't broke.

Never said the guy was broke. Just that there aren't many programs lining up to interview Helfrich.

I'd take Kiffin or Canada over this guy. Probably Gilbert too.

This statement could realistically be made about anyone LSU is seriously considering.

Why do y'all keep glossing over the fact that the OP's point is that he wants helfrich because he thinks he will stick around. And doesn't want kiffin because he thinks he will leave.

He will get more interviews for OC at other schools than O did for HC at other schools.

Totally rumors right now, but there has been talk that Helfrich is being brought in as a consultant for Alabama's prep against Washington. This is what we did with Lane Kiffin before hiring him as OC in the offseason.

Again, just saying what the rumor is right now. Probably is BS, but who knows.

All it would take is one interview so yeah.

We aren't talking about our terrible HC hire. We are talking about salvaging that by making a better OC hire.

You were responding to a response to the OP.

Yes

Someone from the pacific NW who challenged the OP's premise about Helfrich being the pick b/c he'd be at LSU longer than Kiffin.

He laid out a long list of reasons why he thinks LSU isn't a fit for Helfrich and how he'd prove himself and bolt just like Kiffin.

His premise is that culturally and geographically Baton Rouge isn't a fit for an Oregon guy and that he'll leave sooner rather than later.

Right or wrong my point is that any OC who comes in and revitalizes LSU's anemic offense will be promotable in 1-2 years.

And in fact that is what we should want IMO.

Maybe I misinterpreted what your point was. I thought you were agreeing with the OP.

Helfrich can have time to develop his offense. Imagine if Oregon had a defense back when he was OC. LSU does have a defense, and with a high octane offense we can't be stopped
You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you have the kind of hurry up no huddle offense that Oregon, Baylor, WVU have your defence doesn't have time to breath. You have to win a horse race and score 63 points every game.

I'm not saying we have stay with the predictable Les Miles offense but the defence has to catch their breath btw posessions.

I'm just not sold on Helfrich. Perhaps he could prove me wrong, but when Chip Kelly is your HC, I think you have a lot to prove when he leaves and I don't really see that Helfrich did that. Been a steep downhill since Mariota left.

But, like I said, I would love for him to prove me wrong.
