I think Michigan may have a new coach...

I think they left footprints all over Baton Rouge to keep the media/etc. away from whomever it is they are introducing today at the team meeting...

That would make absolutely no sense. It would look like they got turned down and the person they are introducing is their second/third choice.
They obviously thought they could land Miles by calling him home. They were wrong.

That is what Michigan will try to spin it as.

if they want hoke, with miles out there, they have to at least make it look like they tried after miles
if they didn't offer les (which means, if les isn't leaving), then this was a smokescreen for their real candidate
this was to cover their arse with the fanbase

All it tells me is that LSU is a more high-profile program than Michigan now. The respect level across the country for LSU will go up because of this.

I'm just speculating...
It's odd to me that they would call a team meeting if they didn't know they'd have something to tell the team. If it's not Miles, then why call all those kids together?
I'm not sure of it. Just wondering about that

Which candidate do you think would be best at UM?

Which makes no sense at all.
Our name is in the mud, so they half arse something?
I tell ya some folks heads will roll if the hire is Brady Hoke. That is the last thing our program needs at this time.
He might be successful, but I dont think he is going to have a chance to be. This mediocrity BS will NOT be accepted.

No offense pal.... But, the UM job is not what it once was and still believed to be by some. 2 UM grads just blew you guys off and took, probably, less money to coach elsewhere... at least we know Harbaugh did and I doubt they offered Miles less than he is making at LSU.
The UM job will devour at least another coach or two.

You really don't see any way that Michigan offered, but Les turned them down? I'm not saying he definitely was offered, but if he was rational about the decision (i.e., not letting his Michigan roots get in the way of his decision), this really was a no brainer. LSU is a much better job than Michigan in 2011.

Are you on the Michigan brds?
They low balled him? It was all a smoke screen so they can say "Hey we tried"?
You can try over the phone. By going to BR they drag our name further thru the mud.
This has nothing to do with Les.
You line up a big name coach, make sure he wants the job, THEN you let it get public attention.
Folks like me are going to be pissed over this media circus which is just like 07.

Hey, it worked for Auburn

What are some good Michigan boards to check out?
Posted on 1/11/11 at 11:35 am to Rickety Cricket
MGoBlog is by far the best.
Posted on 1/11/11 at 11:37 am to medtiger
Maybe he was offered but there were some details he wasn't happy about.
