Well, to be fair, my point was about big jobs and only Stoops at OU falls into that category. Dabo at Clemson with no HC experience either.

I don't disagree or necessarily think it's a bad idea to hire a coordinator as a HC. I'm all about getting a young gun with some fire ni his belly and the want to beat Saban.
I just think when you look at the current depth chart, there is enough talent there to draw out an established HC. Jimbo? Hell, idk. But Herman or Fedora, yea.

If Clemson is a big job then Kentucky when Bryant was hired and any sec school would count. Jmo
But I re-read your post and see. Zook at Florida, Duboisat Bama, Coker at Miami, Kiffin at Oakland tenn or USC, Orgeron at Ole Miss, Croom at MSU are all Much more likely

It would certainly be a mind screw to Saban especially if Smart said he would retain Steele and Orgeron, but not likely.
From what I've heard is that some of the bigger names in TAF want a coach with a more "flexible" overall approach. The names I keep hearing are J. L. Mora, Kleiman and Chip Kelly if they could get him.

Kleinman from SDSU would be to big of a gamble imo. He didn't build that program, only kept it going 2 years so far. Huge risk..
