as a potential offensive coordinator candidate: Jerry Moore, Appalachian St. Head Coach.

He's from Texas, and his offenses have been very innovative. There's also been a recent wave of D-1AA head coaches becoming coordinators at major colleges. He can't be making Crowton money at APSU.

I'd give it a shot.

Why not?

I would be shocked if he's making even $500,000 at APSU. If he has an ambition to coach on the FBS level, he has a better shot as an offensive coordinator at LSU than the head coach at APSU.

You can't account for the angle that he's the current head coach at APSU, and he would be taking a subordinate role.

However, it seems plausible.

I just think there are better names out there... He's another one of those spread guys, and it's obvious that we are not built to be that kind of team.

Yeah, he isn't a young guy at all so I doubt he wants to go from being a head coach at a place that loves him to an OC anywhere.

He is almost 70. I don't think he wants a different job and no one is offering one.

As an App. St alum and someone who was a volunteer S+C assistant with App. St athletics, I can assure he will be at App. St. until he retires. He and is wife are very happy in Boone.

I thought he might even be over 70 yoa, because I remember him being head coach of Texas Tech in the early 1980's & he didn't look that young then. But I think Moore is pretty much entrenched there at App. St and that will be his last coaching job.

He must be older than me - I saw him play against the Tigers in 1960 (don't actually remember him from that game though).
