I bet your program would love to have Richt right now.

Forgive me if I gave the impression that the listed UT game was a comprehensive list. It was certainly not. Which is why I followed it up with a sentence that included the word microcosm.

and, i'm saying that every coach does that. Nick Saban has lost a ton of games that his teams had no business losing. And, he's the best there is. Same with those other guys. It's not just one game over 10 years. It's multiple games. Very few coaches ever have a perfect season. The great Nick Saban has done it once. How many times have the other coaches I listed gone undefeated? It just doesn't happen that often. You act like Mark Richt isn't a good coach because he occasionally loses games he shouldn't . Well, then there aren't many good coaches in your opinion, and there are zero great ones who fit that criteria.

If Richt has one undefeated season in the next 3, it will put him on par with the greatest coaches of all time. To say he isn't good is ludicrous.

He is better than Derek Dooley. He's got that going for him.

Dude, don't take a single sentence and try to pass it off as the premise of my argument. The premise of my argument was quite clear.

Mark Richt has vastly underachieved given the talent level of the players he has had.

and my argument is three-fold:
1. he has never had more talent than every other team in the SEC, aka, he's not coaching a team of future NFL stars against a bunch of future CFL players.
2. every coach underachieves to a point.
3. you are greatly overstating how much he has overachieved.

The fact is that if Richt was suddenly available tomorrow he would be 1 or 2 on every search committee list..Including Tenn, Auburn, and Arky..

Are you saying that at no point in Richt's tenure has UGA been the most talented team in the conference?

As a Tennessee fan, I thank God he's not. We already had Phillip Fulmer, I'd rather not have a poor man's Phillip Fulmer.

Here is a question for all.

Has Mark Richt:
(a) underachieved, or
(b) overachieved.

I look forward to seeing everyone's responses.

Laugh all you want, but Lane Kiffin beat Mark Richt 45-19 with (a) vastly vastly inferior talent and (b) Jonathan Crompton.

Jonathan. Crompton.

You do realize that the head coach is responsible for recruiting..He hires the other coaches, sets the goals and so on..Does it make a difference if you win like Miles(simply out talent everyone) like Spurrier(out scheme everyone) or like Sabin or Richt( some combination of scheme and talent)..Winning is winning..

So that win makes him a better coach? I would love to see you guys rehire Kiffen..He would leave your program in shambles for another 6 or 7 years..

If you really believe this, then I won't be taking anything else you write particularly seriously.

So you think Mack Brown is a great coach?

Here's some recruiting rankings from Rivals.com since he took over. You tell me if he's ever had, without question, the most talented team in the SEC:
quote:

2002
Tenn #2
UGA #3
AU #6
USCe #11
LSU #15
MSU #17
UF #20

That's a whole lot of talent at a bunch of UGA's competition. And to be honest, you are the first person I've ever heard claim that UGA has ever, in the last 30 years, had more talent than any other SEC team.

lets see, a guy who has never been a head coach before goes into the toughest conference in the country and has a 75% winning percentage over the course of 12 seasons. That is extremely easy to say that is overachieving. I can't imagine the expectations for hiring a young, unproven coach, with no head coaching experience were very high.

Holy frick you want to talk about underachieving? Kiffin lost 5 games with USC this year. PRESEASON #1 and lost 5 fricking games. Nothing you say from here on out will be taken seriously.
