Stoops retired the same age that his father was when he passed away while still coaching. hes not taking a head coaching job unless it's something less stressful like the xfl.

Good luck finding a great coach with that thought process.
Our current coach was someone LSU hired because he “wanted” to be here. Look how good that turned out.
If you want the best you gonna have to pay the money these days to get them. Not go cheapskate mode again and hire another Orgeron.

I hope this is sarcasm. So coaches don’t want a more direct path to the NC, nor do they want more money?? Interesting
You're saying that LSU has the more direct path to the NC?

Can one of you delusional Lincoln Riley homers please explain to me what makes Lincoln Riley, who is totally unproven in the SEC and who has consistently had a piss poor defense every year of his head coaching career, worth the 12 million dollars a year or more that it would cost LSU? When Lane Kiffin, who is already a proven head coach in the SEC and who is a better offensive coach relative to Lincoln Riley could be had by LSU for around half as much.

Yes Sir..gonna stay with it. Logic and past hires tell us Woodward isnt going to hire a coach with a .500 record. He is going for a proven winner and thats what these guys are.
But we shall see.
But we shall see.

Or it's never been Riley and this board has entirely made up his involvement. Just a thought.

Two questions..(1) how many championships has Lane won while a Head Coach in the SEC?
(2) Are you related to him?

Yes. Again, if LSU was undefeated right now they’d be in the top 4. Probably #1 or 2. LSU could probably even sustain a loss and still make the top 4. Look at Bama right now with 1 loss at #2. As of now, OU needs someone to lose to get in the playoffs. If Baylor knocks them off or if they lose a game, they’re DONE.

Riley will not get in Stoop's way. That's why he won't respond to LSU.
I don't think coaches at this level think like that. It's the huge ego thingy.

That is exactly what LSU believes as well. Only, they aren't being played as they expect that is what is happening. No sweat off LSU if OU doubles Lincoln's salary.

No it's funny people think a guy who has coached his entire HC career at a place, who is loved there, loves it there (as far as we know), and consistently gets to the playoffs would leave to come to LSU because of some extra cash and Louisiana recruits.
OU would match or come close to whatever we offer. If he is happy there and has full control why would he leave for a more stressful job where the NC winning coach was fired just 2 years after winning the title?
My final point/question:
Outside of Jimbo to ATM which was due to much more than money how many head coaches of top college programs have left their successful program and jump to another one purely for a raise and/or more fertile recruiting grounds in the past 20 years or so?
You think Riley is thinking "I'm all tapped out at OU only way to win is to join a different team." Or do you think it's much more likely he believes that he can continue his success at OU and bring them a NC and live as a God there forever?
If Riley is to come to lsu it won't be about money or recruits or a path to the NC. The only hope we have to land him is if he is dissatisfied at OU behind the scenes.

I see. I was looking at it from the vantage point of opponent quality.
In the Big 12 there's a much higher chance of going undefeated.

I don't agree with this. When was the last time LSU was top 4 with a loss? 2007 I think.
Our problem is our one loss is probably coming to Bama later in the year, meaning we don't get to the conference championship so it's really not much of a difference from OU, we lose we're done.

We need to look elsewhere if that’s the case, because for a young coach to turn down $10-$12 mil a year because some guy who doesn’t have a chance in hell of becoming the coach at LSU “would take the job”, means he’s a dipshit.
