Clemson had 394 yards. Less points and less yards than Ohio states “all time” defense gave up.

They averaged 44 points per game and 530 yards per game including that contest

Agree. It is not the worst hire but is definitely underwhelming.

With 0 4* or 5* players. And his team is ranked #9 in the country.

So, he's doing more with less? Hmmmm.....

His 2019 defense rating was misleading. Yes, he struggled at the start of the season but then the defense made adjustments and became a top tier defense. That is what makes him a good coach. If you look at it from a week to week basis, that defense improved a lot. If you take out the first 3-4 games, his numbers are much different.

His defense held the future #1 overall pick to 49% completion %

His defense was perfect on the last 5 possessions. 4 punts and a fumble. Our defense took over that game

Get fricked

The OlePiss game was never in doubt and we let them run out the clock on the ground.

I do t either, as a head coach. Way too small a sample size. As a defensive coach, we know he’s great, but nobody truly knows what kind of head coach he is, and nobody will for another three years. Year 5 always tells the tale.

If he had t coaches at LSU, nobody would be as high on him.

And I have concerns about going the route of constantly replacing OCs. I prefer a QB guru HC unless it's Saban.

Historically, it's been easier for top defensive minded HCs to replace their offensive coordinators every few years with fresh blood, than it is for offensive minded HCs to consistently get top DCs on board.

If I have to choose one side of the ball to always be dominant on, I'm picking the defensive side.

Dave has worked with some outstanding offensive minds like Joe Brady and Tom Herman. He knows what kind of offensive scheme is effective, and he would do his best to consistently keep a high powered, innovative offense at LSU.
