He is called the Professor Of Defense but yet in 2019 the LSU Defense ranked 31st nationally giving up 344 yards and 22 pts per game.
Ole Miss scorched His "D" for 614 yards of which 402 were on the Ground.
Not to mention the mess ups in pass coverage evident by Stingleys frustration when he was torched late in the game.
He is also a liability in recruiting. The high profile D-Linemen were recruited by "O".

His classes at Baylor have ranked #41 in 2020 and are now #33 for 2021. With 0 4* or 5* players. And his team is ranked #9 in the country. He should be able to do better even at "Baylor".

His coaching record is 2 games over .500. So please tell me why he deserves to be the coach at LSU?

Aranda is overrated but at this point he would be a very decent hire.

“One of us”

If Aranda never coached here, he wouldn’t be mentioned.

That being said, I think he’s had a great season, but you don’t know how that will translate to the level of job LSU is.

What happened after that Ole Miss game?

Aranda adjusted and the defense played lights out the rest of the year.

Aranda had one off time in his career at LSU, and that was for the first half of the season in 2019.

The defense was somewhat inexperienced and unproven. They were on the opposite side of a high scoring offense that kept them on the field often.

The man is one of the best defensive minds in the nation, and he’s young. Baylor was at rock bottom and now they’re ranked and kicking arse.

Now do his defense when everybody was healthy after the Ole Miss game and throughout the SEC championship and playoffs.

He's a tremendous defensive mind.

I do have concerns about recruiting though. And I have concerns about going the route of constantly replacing OCs. I prefer a QB guru HC unless it's Saban.

I guess...but if he was coach (and I don't see it happening) when the recruits he inherits are gone it will be bad.
You cannot win in the SEC with sub-par recruiting classes.

Even Kirby Smart admitted this.

have you seen how good he has his team playing witnout 4 and 5 stars??
Lsu defense in 2019 went through the ringer. Our offense was scoring a record amount of points with a lot quick drives. Teams brought out all the tricks to score on us. Defense was injured early in 2019, peaked for the SEC championship game and playoff.
Ole miss was the week after alabama and we were banged up. Ole miss was gritty and didnt quit. Stingley being frustrated on a play is irrelevant.....

Well Bama ran up nearly 600 total yards. In the NC game Clemson his "D" gave up 25 pts and 400 total yds.

Lets face it. His Defense was good but it was carried by an offense that was the highest scoring offense of all time (726 pts) and the first SEC team to have a 5000 yd passer and TWO 1000 yd runners.

Which put them on the field more.

The defense is going to have to work harder when their offense scores quicker. That’s part of the reason our defenses were so highly ranked under miles and his ball control offense.

Aranda had to coach under the cancer that is Ed O. Anyone successful under Ed is going above and beyond.

His defenses have consistently been strong at Utah State, Wisconsin, LSU and now Baylor. Find another DC with that track record at 4 schools. His first season at Baylor was a mess because of Covid and an ill-fitted offensive staff which he quickly repaired.

The fact that they are 10-2 and headed to the Big 12 title game ranked #8 with a bunch of 3-star recruits is impressive enough.

Matt Rhule was a better recruiter, but Baylor's actual on-field performance was not as impressive as Aranda's. Rhule had one season similar to Aranda's current year, but if you go back and look you can see how that team skated by with a lot of luck. Most wins were down to a TD or less. They never beat a ranked opponent.

In contrast, the team under Aranda has 3 wins against top 15 teams. I think that's the first time in school history. Y'all calling for Rhule as the next HC don't seem to get that his Baylor offenses were dreadful. He was a great motivator but Aranda is a smarter coach. He's destined for greatness.

Hey...I will admit my "source" was wrong with Riley. Even though she called the Mulkey hire at least a week or so before it was announced. And she missed on the Jay Johnson hire. She said it was Corbin.
BUT..something either unforeseen happened with Riley or Scott has someone else in mind.

Right now I don't have a clue but Aranda isnt the answer.
