He’s only been a head coach for 2 years. I think lack of experience is definitely hurting his resume

2 seasons as a head coach and not much of a record as a recruiter. He had a losing record last year. He might be lights out, but there’s not much of a record to go by.

He needs one more year plus a winless conference season like Orgeron's resume pre-LSU

I think as long as he keeps Baylor as a Big 12 contender and shows some recruiting ability he’ll be the next big coveted name. But you don’t harvest fruit before it’s time

Waco, while it isn't Shangri La, it's a lot nicer than Baton Rouge. Baylor is also a private school where you don't have to put up with a myriad of political shite. Aranda is also supposed to be very religious, if that's true he's at the right place.

Like Napier and Riley, he isn’t interested.

Maybe we got someone better.

And for the record Dave has been my first choice of the coaches I thought we could realistically get. With Fickell a very close second.

Because he don’t have a big enough resume yet to take on a job like LSU. Who know this is probably a fluke year for him, you know he still coaching with Matt Ruhle’s players. Aranda is not a great recruiter.

Napier wasn’t interested??? He would have taken the LSU job without even hearing what the salary was.

It is a more secure job and easier to get to 10 wins.

Let me help you out, Woody doesn’t think he’s qualified. Aranda has less than 2 years experience as head coach, he’s still playing with Rhules recruits. It’s all about timing and the timing for Aranda is off.

The same Woody that while working for A&M thought Jimbo was worth 10 year 75m gauranteed after trashing FSU? SW has received a lot of praise for not being Alleva but his football coach hiring resume takes a big hit considering what he did to A&M.

You are right. He would have waited to see what the salary was. And if it even equal to his ULL salary, he’d be in Baton Rouge and not Gainesville.

Maybe it’s because Baylor has shown him appreciation/commitment and he doesn’t want to just walk away after a year and a half.

It’s not always just about the money.

I know it's not a popular theory around here, but money and potential to win NC aren't the only 2 things coaches consider when making life altering choices. And with the money at the G5 and lower P5 teams increasing all the time, I think it's going to be harder to pry some of these guys away than ever before.

At some point the insane pressure and low margin of error at the top of the P5 is going to mean only a small number of coaches are really ready to embrace that and meet it head on. And there won't be enough of them to go around for the jobs that demand it IMO
