I mean.. I like the optimism in general but this all feels like an oddly positive spin on a fairly mundane article. Assuming it’s the same article I’m reading.. since for some reason there are no links or quotes in the OP.

quote:

The Advocate explained how Woodward has allowed himself plenty of time, which will allow him to make a great coaching hire.

It just says that things have changed with the early signing period, so waiting until after Thanksgiving to fire a coach puts you in a tough spot.
quote:

According to The Advocate’s reporting, O is already making a convincing sell to recruits for LSU’s next head coach.

It just says that 3 of our 14 commits acknowledged that they’ve heard from Orgeron this week, with one saying “I talked to him yesterday, and he was still saying LSU was the best place for me.” The article also lists several recruits who could be on shaky ground.

It just strikes me as.. odd, that someone’s takeaway from that article would be “Woodward is orchestrating a masterful plan.” Maybe there’s another article I’m not seeing?

Reported by The Advocate. Interim LSU head coach Ed Orgeron told Acadiana High’s Laterrance Welch that LSU is still “the best place for you”. The report noted that Welch, a cornerback and Dlineman Tygee Hill remain committed to LSU. They are among a group of 14 recruits that Coach Orgeron has contacted and is trying to get them to remain committed to LSU.

The BR paper also reported that 247 Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong explained LSU’s situation this way. “Four or five years ago, you wouldn’t fire your coach until Thanksgiving, because national signing day was in February.”

Witltfong went on to note, “But now, LSU is in a position where their job is open to all viable candidates and they know it. They have time to go out and make a great hire behind the scenes, and that hire can be made, depending on who they hire, Thanksgiving weekend. That Coach has three weeks to recruit for his new program before the early signing period.”

This is it. Reported Coach O has contacted all 14 commits and two of them acknowledged to The Advocate that they remain committed to LSU. Also, 247 sports director of recruiting appears to praise Woodward's handling of Coach O's release, and The Advocate also appeared to praise Woodward's handling of this matter. Which is very complementary considering it’s coming from a recruiting site that often frowns upon such firings like this.

Reported Coach O has contacted all 14 commits

That’s not what the article says:
quote:

On the same day coach Ed Orgeron sat next to athletic director Scott Woodward to announce the end of his tenure at LSU, he had called two recruits earlier to tell them to start theirs.

And by Wednesday night, another of the 14 commitments in LSU's 2022 recruiting class said he had also heard from Orgeron.

In other words, it says he has contacted 3 of the 14 total commits.

Like I said before, I’m optimistic. Was just expecting more out of the article with the way you phrased it. It’s basically saying “Orgeron is still recruiting. LSU might lose some out-of-state guys. But LSU always has good recruiting classes. They’ll probably be alright.”

When Tate makes the hire and we wallow in mediocrity for 5 years people will look back on this as a time of hope and promise.

Sports was healthier for our minds and bodies when we were all embracing each other regardless of color during a game.

Politics consuming the social sector completely has ruined this country. Nobody has a sense of humor anymore. So serious. It sucks. I remember when this country was full of fun loving people who for the most part would live and let live.

I no longer listen to any politics, no Fox and no CNN, nothing except local news and I used to be addicted to it all! Losing both parents to Covid a week apart makes me hate all of the drama, fabricated or otherwise. Feels so refreshing to ignore it all.

Tate may want to choose the coach but the TAF has to approve the contract and they won't pay millions of dollars out to some coach that is qualified for the job just to satisfy Tate.

I am hoping for Nappier or Aranda. I think both coaches will be very successful here for a long time and will bring a steadiness to the program

I guess you are technically right. He has done more with the UL program than any LSU coach has. Not sure that's what you meant.

Yep, the employment agreement is out there.
Start date: 10/18/21
End date: 11/30/21

Section 2 says, "Term of this agreement shall be for a definite term.... ending on the End date unless extended in accordance with section 4."

Section 4. (Post-Season Option)
"In the event that the Team accepts a post-season bowl bid, and LSU exercises the option to extend the Term of this Agreement through the date that the bowl game is played and completed, employee shall continue employment through the extended term."

I really wasn’t suggesting that all to be totally honest. I really think this board could care less about the race of the next coach but I do think the record would push for a melt ( that’s what I was implying) you just jumped on the race card .I think Coach Franklin would do great hear with his previous work he has done and currently holding the number 2 recruiting class. I really think you younger guys think everyone over 50 is racist. I have biracial nieces and nephews that I love. You really need to quit assuming shite like that
