There was no pay increase, which makes it even stranger to think LSU forced the signing on Miles. Miles was already under contract through 2009 or 2010. If LSU threatened to fire him for not signing the extension, and followed through, LSU would have owed a huge amount of money to Les for firing him without cause. The new clause provides for 15 million in that situation. I am not sure of the amount in the old contract, but I would think it was certainly substantial. So would LSU really threaten to fire Miles for not signing the extension and be willing to pay several million dollars to back up the threat? Does anyone use common sense around here?

I do not have any facts that say this. I am a member of both michigan premium sites of scout and rivals. However, I guess he came out two hours before the game because he felt like being distracted from the game. Your AD forced his hand. He was obviously not happy about it or he would not be talking to Michigan right now. You can't expect loyalty when your AD pulls moves like that

You honestly believe Skip "forced" Les into that press conference? And then "forced" him to get a huge pay raise? You're an idiot. What about the press conference after the game? Was that forced when Miles said he would be the coach at LSU? He had no idea that LSU would be in the National Title game, nobody did? He could have bolted but he didn't. So there goes your theory.

Michigan was jilted by its lover, but Michigan still can't take it, so it resorts to stalking, then complains when they get critized for it.

Bunch of jerks. Its like saying we could have won the game if we wanted to, but we didn't want to, so you won the game.

Sore losers.

Go find a coach and take your oversized ego with you.

Go Tigers

Don't assume the the LSU Athletic Department is run with the same petty, self-aggrandizing disregard for the good of the program that characterizes Michigan athletics.

Isn't the same reply he gave the media prior to the SECC game?

You are assuming a lot about forcing his hand. What exactly did LSU force? Choose to sign an extension or be paid several million dollars in severance pay? Come on. Doesn't anyone realize that Miles had the stronger hand in this negotiation? He is a coach LSU wanted to keep. They were looking to keep him, but they didn't have the leverage to force him to sign. He had the leverage to say, "if you fire me, you will owe me several million dollars since I am under contract with you now, and if you fire me without cause (and not signing an extension on a contract that had 2 or 3 more years is not cause for firing) you have to pay me according the terms of that contract."

If Miles leaves he'll dread the day he hitched his star to Michigan's broken wagon. Ask Saban.

you guys can say whatever you want. I am not here to cause problems. I am saying take a look at the events. How much sense does it make for Les Miles to sign a contact if he knew he was still interested in the Michigan job. You would think he would wait. Which is why I think you guys are mad. From what I have heard is that he was forced to sign the contract extension. His agent was trying to call martin to see if he had a offer. Martin did not pick up.

BTW from what i hear there is already an offer. Both sites disagree on whether or not there is an offer but the site that says there was an offer tends to be more reliable

There is NO scenerio where Skip could "force" Coach Miles to do anything. You are the only one who has brought up this absolutely stupid assertation. Not sure how Skip would put this: "if you don't sign this new contract, then you will have to go to Michigan." Yes, that would scare the hell out of Coach Miles. Was he forced to say that "LSU is now home"? He JUST issued a press release thru LSU SID confirming that he "will be the coach at LSU next season".
