How real is it that we are really talking to Coach Saban?

I have been calling Coach Saban (Satan) ever since he took the Alabama job, because he hung Miami out to dry. But if he does become our Coach again I will welcome him back with open arms. I am 57 years old and for the life of me, I can't see a coach wanting to come back to his old team on how he left that team. I can't get up beat about Coach Satan returning because it seems so far out in left field.

You might want to start drinking the Sabanaid. His passion to coach pro football made him leave. His heart wanted him to stay. If LSU would have been open he would have been back and everyone would have welcomed him back with open arms. Saban knows that the SEC is the only conference that can feed his ego. Speaking of feeding, I here there is a dinner tonight over at the Saban's house with all of his assistants.Maybe they are planning their bid to win the Indy Bowl. Maybe not.

All he has to do is tell the truth. He got the job offer he always thought he wanted at the end of 2004. He was being offered a big "professional opportunity" to go lead a storied NFL franchise. It was an opportunity he had to take. He took it and soon realized he had made a mistake. His family was not happy in Miami, and he missed coaching in college, particularly at LSU. He was not happy and Bama came calling (with the hard sell), and he thought he might be able to duplicate what he had here. He couldn't come back to LSU at that time; there was no job for him here. Well, now there is a job opening in Baton Rouge, and all he needs to say, a lot, is "I was never happier than when I was coaching my LSU Tigers. I am coming home to coach my Tigers. I am sorry if this disappoints the people of Alabama, but I need to go "home." (Pre-game salute music starts now.....)

you left out that part about Saban making fun of LSU fans, telling jokes to Bama rednecks about dumb cajuns and negative recruiting tactics against LSU and their coaching staff....frick him and feed him fish heads...

Yea like we don't do that. I think this is pretty freakin common place in CFB for whoever you coach for. If he comes back here he'll make fun of that crack head lady that hugged him at the airport when he took the bama job.

I think Saban wants NO PART of the LSU job!!! I mean why would he want to come back to a FAN BASE that doesn't appriciate what he did when he was here the first time. I mean I have seen people on here acting like since he is not here anymore that he sucks as a coach!!!! LSU FANS don't deserve a GREAT coach like Saban with the attitude they have!!!!

Saban doesn't deserve LSU for everything they did for him.

Saban did WAY more for LSU than LSU did for him!!!!!!! And its not even close!!!

I'm not sure he can get a majority of the Board to vote for him. If that can happen, I would be very happy. I will always be greatful for the wonderful job he did at my school. I remember how I felt when he came. And, I remember how I felt when he left. I am a Saban fan.

I fully admit he did a great job, but he's not bigger than the university. He wasn't here long enough. You can say Bowden made FSU, Joe Pa made Penn. State, but Saban merely had a few successful seasons. I know you know better PJ..
Now on to the task at hand...what time do the 16oz BUDS start cracking? It's championship Saturday! (without Saban)

this thread has been hijacked into another referendum on saban. the question in the original post still remains: how realistic is it that LSU is talking with Saban to be the next coach?
i dont' have sources. all i can do is read the tea leaves like everyone else. my inclination is that there has to be some third party discussions going on, whether sanctioned by the LSU higher ups or not. i also believe that saban does not look too happy at bama and that he would likely is putting feelers out there.

I feel the biggest thing that would keep Saban or any other big name coach from coming to LSU is the fact that the AD position is up in the air. Everyone knows that Skip and Saban didn't quite see eye to eye on things, however, if LSU were to somehow get Radicovich to come back to LSU and be the next AD I feel Saban would have more interest. The timing just isn't right for LSU and Saban. No big name coach is going to want to come to LSU w/o knowing who their AD is going to be.

A great coach does not lose 3 games a year 4 yrs out of 5, with the talent on hand. A great coach does not lose to UAB, Iowa,O.Miss, Ms.State, ULM, etc, with the talent on hand. A great coach does not leave his pro team in ruins after only 2 years. A great coach has morals.

I never sais he MADE LSU!! I simply stated that he made LSU better than it was and put them in the stratusphere that they are in NOW!!!! You can't argue with that!!!
