Because he’s undefeated and still only ranked 8th in the CFP rankings. Also, Louisiana produces way more talent than Oklahoma. His job would be easier here.

Honestly since oklahoma is coming to the SEC it would be better to start off at LSU with their recruiting advantage over Oklahoma than come in with oklahoma and have to navigate a new conference so I could see why LSU would be attractive for Riley

Would LSU be ranked #8 if they were 9-0?

There’s your answer.

Will they have an opportunity to win it all if they go undefeated? There’s the problem

The days of racking up rent a wins are coming to an end for OU. Riley knows this and wants out before his legacy becomes he was an overrated coach in a terrible conference.

He's undefeated at this point in the season EVERY season. Then it's SEC in playoffs. He wants LSU oh so badly. He lusts for LSU. He'll be at LSU for 30+ years and will win so many titles I can't even venture to guess.

Money talks, his knowing he won’t beat lsu, bama, auburn, probably Texas am, recruiting, and seeing Miles and O win NC, all makes it very inviting to go to lsu.

Poster above makes good point. Oklahoma only loses like 1 or 2 games a year since Lincoln has been there. These seasons are a dime a dozen for him at this point. He probably thinks this is the weakest team he’s had.

Money and the fact that he is undefeated yet not in the CFP rankings.

If he were. I could see a coach who
Knows his current school is heading to the SEC. And would possibly like to be at the school in the forementioned conference that offers the most fertil recruiting. It will take OU quite a while to win the west. But LSU offers a quicker path.
