How is Jeff Grimes a candidate for the Auburn job?

If Auburns paid over 40m the last 3 years to just end up with Grimes I will laugh my arse off

Muschamp is done as a head coach

I think Grimes is the Gus of this search. We know he's there, many people think he's a good fit, he probably is going to be a moderately successful HC soon, widely respected, knows us, etc. We'll go for others first but might circle back.

I'm less confident he ends up the guy than I was a month go, but I still think he's a back pocket dude. He's a more upside version of the Steele plan, IMO.

FWIW I think Grimes will make a good coach. I'm not sure now is a good time to settle for that at AU.

Auburn can come up with the money. Jimmy Rane is the richest man in the state worth about 900 million. If we could get a Kiffin, Aranda, he’ll even a Mark Stoops, coaches that have success in the SEC to Auburn we would be a contender in 2 years. We invented paying players and now it’s legal.

I would hope the PTB would realize it’s best to pay big up front rather than on the back end after the last 3 coaches.
