and thats before we even touch that being the second fiddle in california is infinitely better than being second fiddle in south carolina. the pure notion that south carolina is even close to being as good as a job as UCLA is fricking ridiculous

You said there are some negatives at UCLA that might make it even with USC.

Yea. If you had some reading comprehension then you would understand that the negative is being in the same sports market as Southern Cal, the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Dodgers and potentially a couple NFL teams.

But keep proving me right about how the only thing y'all can say about South Carolina's job not being desirable is "hurrrrr durrrrrrrr South Carolina's football history is shite"

Thats not the only downside and I didn't even suggest that they made UCLA equal to South Carolina, just that they made UCLA not a clearly better job.

Regardless, I'm still waiting for someone to regale me with the reasons that UCLA, Cal, Washington, Ole Miss, Baylor and TCU are better jobs.

Only one so far is "hurrrrrrr durrrrrr South Carolina's football history is shite"

UH football history >>>>> USCe football history

UH football future with Herman >>>>> USCe football future with Herman

So you’re suggesting that SCAR is a better job than UCLA?

The argument is all semantics. In the current climate, all of the jobs, except maybe Washington, are more desirable programs.

quote:

Baylor and TCU

swim in oil money, situated in the hotbed of recruiting, have great coaches and are building a winning tradition.

quote:

Ole Miss

can be/is becoming a recruiting giant. They play in the best division in football. They have tradition, money, strong alumni base and good facilities.

quote:

Cal

Another product of having a great recruiting base. Academically, they are top notch so they attract the traditional student athlete. Maybe not a better program per se, but Cal is a more desirable situation.

quote:

UCLA

Really?

quote:

Washington

The only plus for UW is location and a pretty good history of football. All things considered, this is the closest program in that group to SCAR.

Then why is Sonny Dykes trying to figure out how to get the hell out of Berkeley?

Look, I get it. South Carolina is a shitty program with shitty history and should just promote the groundskeeper to head coach.

I doubt boosters would be on board for ut hiring another conference USA guy. I like him but for ut and their resources everyone is in play

You think Herman will really want to walk into a locker room of guys who lost to the Citadel the previous year and take on that rebuild? Houston is a better job than South Carolina going forward

Do you really think one game the previous year is going to affect a coach's decision on taking a job or not?

Why is it a better job that those places? It doesn't have the edge in recruiting, money, academics, or history. Basically you are going to say it's a better job because it's in the SEC.

Still not enough to make UCLA a job anywhere close to the level of South Carolina. If you win at UCLA you will be top dogs in that city with maybe the exception of the Lakers. Even if you do have to compete with those other teams UCLA has many other things that put it on a whole level above USC.

one loss at Houston and he's now a bad coach.

What an idiot.
