Has this year been the weakest for coaching changes?

Regular season is over and UNC or WVU are the biggest jobs so far. Anything can happen but it's been lackluster so far.
To be fair Bama and Michigan opened up after the season ended last year but we already had A&M and both MSUs by this time.

This board shines when LSU is trying to hire someone… Or if a team is just botching the search.

I think with the age of Nil, school are giving coaches more time to build the programs up.

Or if bama coaches are rumored to go to Texas.

Transfer portal has people shy to pull the trigger. Search takes 7-10 days and half your roster will be gone before new guy even has a PC.
Season ended last week, sought after guys have CC games, portal opens on 9th I think.

It seems like more schools are having patience because of buyouts and nil.
The portal can be a game changer as well. It’s a free for all now out there with everyone chasing the portal players so a team can literally change overnight if the money is right. Why piss the money off on a buyout when teams can use it for players to make the current coaching staff competitive.
It’s all a craps shoot now.

Especially when it seems that the NFL has figured out college coaches don’t translate well to the pro scene so drama of one of them filling a spot with a big name college coach is close to nil.
Harbaugh happened last year but that wasn’t a really big shocker because he was a known variable and everyone kind of figured he’d go back to the pros eventually.
Was Matt Rhule the last one?

Rev share is freaking everyone out. No one wants to pay a 30 million dollar buyout when you are on the hook for 25 million to pay the players next year.

Yeah, it's a resource allocation question. So many teams got trapped in coach friendly contracts with stupid buyouts. The same boosters who would be paying those buyouts now have to pay your players.
Somewhere like Florida is a great example. Pretty clear the money lined up to buy out Billy if he cratered this year was transferred to a very strong close with NIL.

This is the answer! Until the House settlement is settled ADs are keeping powder dry.
