re: Has anyone watched OU enough the last two weeks to know why the offense has sputtered?

Bad oline and receivers.
Also, Riley tends to make things harder than they are. He needs to scheme QB run games, slants, and screens - all simple things that would help an 18 year old mobile QB who hadn’t played a competitive down in two years. Instead, we keep getting these terribly long developing play action crossing routes.

I think chicken knows something and is just toying with everyone here

Their QB is a better runner than a passer and has been kept inside the pocket for the most part. They also don’t have the dominating offensive line they have had in the past to run people into the box. So they are passing again 7 man backfields a lot.

So, we just got to the 5th year of Riley's HC tenure. Prior to this he had recruits from Bob Stoops, but now he's limited to his own recruits. And now his offense is sputtering because of weak receivers and OL? That doesn't sound good at all.

IMO, The OU call Vince has sputtered recently because of Caleb Williams and experience playing the position at collegiate level.
I chalk it up to growing pains and I wholeheartedly believe they will get it rolling in Williams second season

I pointed this out the other day. OU has racked up stats vs really bad defenses like WCU, TT and TCU and struggled vs teams like Nebraska (23) and WVU (16). Those were with Rattler so neither QB has done well vs an average D.
The OK St game will be very interesting bc they are one of the better defenses in CFB, but it will likely be a game in the 20's bc Ok St doesn't have a great offense this year either.

Because he’s starting a true freshman QB
+1000. True freshman QBs tend to be inconsistent. Very up and down. Not surprised this question came up since quite a few LSU fans expected our true freshman QB to light it up the first time he stepped on the field.

Poor Qb play. Caleb Williams has been running around in the back field and escaping defenders just long enough to make a play against most of their opponents . He wasn’t able to elude Baylor and Iowa sate like he did against other teams.

Yeah that’s interesting Chicken. Lots of excuses in this thread, however I would point out that OSU also looked bad early in the year and then figured it out.

QB play has not been great and lack of Oline protection. Both doomed the Sooners. As to why that’s the case, I don’t know.

So a 2 game sample size with a true freshman QB vs Dave Aranda and Matt Campbell is a enough for you?
Has he not been the most lethal offensive mind in college football over the past decade?
Whats Lincoln Riley’s QB resume like vs LSU’s in its entire history?
