At a certain point, Nick Saban has a price - I hate to be the bearer of illusion-shattering news like that, but it is true. Regardless of how "comfortable" he is, how "too old" to start over he is, how "happy" he and Terry are in T-Town - at a certain point, he says, "Sold."

Just the nature of the man - and of the business. Who do you respect more, of these 3:

1. The man who isn't really interested in his wife or sex, in general, and stays loyal.

2. The hound who is married, but always looking, always chasing (regardless of whether or not he catches anything).

3. The man who is completely normal, has normal desires, loves and desires his wife and keeps himself out of situations where he might be tempted to chase (and, possibly, catch) some strange?

I respect 3 the most of of these types.

Saban is a 2. kind of man, regardless of how good a coach he is.

I've taken a huge beating in this thread over "the plane", and I've already apologized once about it, but I'm going to do it again. I should have stressed "what we know" less (because we don't know that - i just thought it was accepted truth), and point of my thread more, which is this.

Why are no other names being thrown around.

I really think NS is either still legitimately deciding, or Sexton is making NS not say right now to watch the money stack up higher. Both of those make sense, from a logical standpoint.

What does NOT make sense are the folks saying "he's for sure staying at Bama", yet not a singleo there name is being mentioned as the new coach to in Austin.

Again, I can't look at this unbiased. I am a butt hurt LSU fan, and I admitted that in the OP. I just find it curious that no one else is even being mentioned.

Have we heard any credible information that says he will take the job? Or hell, that's he's even been offered a job that is currently occupied?

As I said in another post, the media is just a pawn in the negotiations, and as evidenced by this board, many idiots don't realize this. I would bet that 50% of what is reported by the media is info purposely leaked by UT, Bama and/or Saban's agent. 25% is gross conjecture, and 23% is just stuff that people are flat-out fabricating. That leaves about 2% of accurate information out there.The advent of twitter, message boards, etc. have amplified the amount of unsubstantiated BS floating around out there. Any dildo with the internet can claim to be an "insider" nowadays.

Right now, the only thing we know for sure is that Texas has a new AD and Mack Brown is still the coach at UT. At minimum, until Brown is no longer the coach at UT, any Saban to UT talk is pure speculation.

FWIW, I think Saban stays at Alabama and was at no point thinking about taking another college job. He will get a huge raise because his agent will leverage even the thought that UT might offer him their job. Texas will make an "underwhelming" hire because anyone not named Nick Saban will be underwhelming. Saban's name will be brought up again for NFL jobs once at the end of this month. People will start this crap all over again.

I have been given no indication that Saban is leaving Bama and never once implied it. I know that Mack agreed to step down three days ago. And I know that UT was going to throw sick money at Nick (up to $80-100 million package including a hefty signing bonus to front load some of the money). I knew that Powers (friend of Mack) would not get ousted, but that he has agreed not to get in the way of kicking out Mack.

Recruiting dead period starts on Monday so UT ideally wanted this stuff to stay quiet up until that point, but one can assume that coaches contact the players somehow during the dead period.
