Why the hostility? I'm not against Gilbert. I'm just skeptical like anyone else. You need an attitude adjustment.

Texas? Arguably one of the most scrutinized program in the country? Oh you must be one of those “He hasn’t coached in he Mighty SEC” guys

Bio on Gilbert
Here is some info on him. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Doesn’t just chunk it all over the field. Has a good rushing attack. Jimmy G from 49ers and Patriots is one of the qb’s he has coached.

Will this be the rant and O's excuse next year? Does someone need to actually tell O what kind of offense will be run before they are in a game? Does he need to take some kind of personality test to determine whether O's ego can handle being less knowledgable?

Why the hell does every candidate have to be the most experienced OC in the country?
Because Orgeron's not exactly a great coach to work for when you're learning on the job.
You see this as a good fit?

This happens with a lot of young coaches in their 30’s. Looking for promotions whether it be by team or position or pay

So? If he is a spread expert with power running, then maybe I will like this Gilbert. I'm not bitching, and I'm not dissatisfied. I'm just conversing.

He doesn't want all of the extras that go with OC, takes up to much of his fishing time. Just wants to ride off into the sunset doing what he has been for the last few years. He has made that point very clear with the powers that be.

Apologies man. Up all night with the baby and got in here for a few minutes and amazed by the damn melting and negativity. I think he’d be an excellent young hire to pair with Aranda to modernize the offensive side of the ball. If O let both those guys coach and truly played the cheerleader, motivator/recruiter , CEO I think we’d really be in to something.

You said he had no experience calling plays in a pressure cooker, then when it was pointed out he coached at Texas, you changed to “only one year.”
And yes, he has had several jobs, but that’s what happens when you are a young coach moving up the ranks. He hasn’t been fired. He wasn’t retained at Texas when Herman came on.

I think Gilbert is a really good coordinator. He runs the same offense as Briles and can pass through the vetting of the admins. He doesn't have any baggage. I don't know if anyone truly fits with Coach O because he's a not a good head coach but I'd rather have someone here that can run a good offense to try and offset some of that.

Yeah it looks like all of his moves were up. With exception of Texas to South Florida but he followed Charlie Strong there. Would think Strong wouldn’t bring him along if his movements were do to personality issues. Can’t get much higher than LSU OC and would need a few years before he would be considered a HC candidate. I would think we could hang on to him 3-5 years if all worked out well.

Seems like the perfect fit

Who would be better than Gilbert right now that is available to you?. None of the other candidates on LSUs list comes close to Gilbert except for Briles and he is now at Houston.

Not radioactive, but definitely baggage - wilted on the big stage, already, in fact. If we don't have a hire in place before he's knocked out of the playoffs, then I would definitely hear what he has to say.
