Family decision
What do you mean? It was a family decision not to pull the trigger? It he's going home to make the decision with his family? Or he turned it down because his family didn't want to move here?

Down vote me whom ever that is but he has contract numbers from Notre Dame and LSU to sit down with family and discuss. Also will he be happier where he is if contract is met. I am happy he is thinking about it, hate when coaches say yes then a year later figure out they are unhappy with situation they are in.

continue the interview process with next candidate of choice while awaiting a reply from Freeman

Would have hoped orgeron would have already interviewed options b and c just in case. But it doesnt seem thats the case

Def ! Freeman has to see he is our choice but we will move on . Meaning we need an answer sooner the later. He knows he is our first choice by interview and being offered contract. As an LSU fan if one don’t think he left with big time numbers thrown at him then you are rolling yourself.

This is the thing I hate most about O and it puts LSU in the holes sometimes. He does the same thing in recruiting. It's his worst attribute.

So you think O puts to much faith in the LSU brand?

It’s not the end of the world he flew back without a public decision.
When this whole process started I grossly underestimated his attachment to Fickell.
Watching some interviews on YouTube today I learned:
Fickell was his position coach at Ohio St. The first coach he was a GA under. Now coaching with him.
It’s a big time mentor in his life. It’s not shocking that he probably wants to sit down with him personally and give him the news that he now makes 3 million per year. Before it goes public. Freeman is super smart, and very concerned about leadership, legacy, etc. This is in his character

O isn't really a plan b, plan c guy. He seems to be more of a guy that has an overinflated view of his recruiting ability for players and coaches. His overconfidence helps at times, but in most cases like this lead to missed opportunities.

We have no clue what happened during the interview or what coach Freeman is thinking.. let it play out before you shite talk O

Not everyone is going to love LSU like him. This is something he doesn't seem to grasp. It's a business decision and he doesn't really treat it like that. You can't go into a negotiation with your #1 guy then have no backup plans. That's how you end up like LSU currently has holes on the roster due to poor roster management from recruiting. Well, at least partially why. He has got burned hard by guys who he thought he had in the bag.
Got to treat it like a smart business decision. Complacency kills the program.

So you know for sure O has no backup plan?

It's not about this hire in particular. It's his history so far at LSU and in general. That isn't to call him bad at his job, just a flaw in how he does things. We all have them.

They haven't interviewed anyone but Freeman and other DCs that were probably high on the list are taking jobs. So yes, I would say they don't have a backup plan unless they're forced to.

Also the silence from every single credible insider is very deafening.
ND mods on 24/7 are busy talking about back up plans.
Meanwhile every insider on TOS and 24/7 is tight lipped as hell other than a few cryptic positive post from a few folks throughout the day.
Which tells me they all know he’s coming. But have been told to STFU because Freeman wants to go home and deliver the news first to Fickell and his team like a true man.

How do you know he is our new DC and he wants to tell family ex coaches and players before he makes it public?
Posted on 1/7/21 at 5:16 pm to LSUBALLER
I think we get him btw I'm just speaking in general this is a reoccurring problem with O. To be fair though, it can burn us but I'm sure it has helped us too. It is what it is.

To be fair, he's pretty fricking good at getting the guys he wants. Now whether those guys work out is another story, but you can't deny he's a closer. Not advocating being unprepared for the unexpected, nor am I suggesting that is the case here.
