Swiss cheese defense. ND made a panic hire to keep their staff and recruiting temporarily intact. Big time gamble hiring a HC with no experience. Anyone saying he’s an upgrade for ND is delusional.

Think if I would of been making the hire I would of waited on Fickell. I do not blame them for hiring Freeman though and don’t base the hire on a who gives a damn bowl game.

They are taking a big risk. ND is not a place you want to have a coach cut his teeth on. It may workout only time will tell but IMO the risk outweighs the benefit. If it was USL yes. ND no.

He just got a commitment from a top safety over Alabama. So dumb to judge any coach on just one game.

But didn’t you watch their hype videos? And see how young and relatable he is?

It's one game

And a meaningless Bowl Game, at that

He and Tommy Rees have gotten outcoached badly in the 2nd half. Zero adjustments.

So give him a few years and Kelly will hire him to be the DC here when House moves on?

Freeman is going to be fine.

Maybe it's a little early to be the head guy but he was always going to be a head coach.

People here are mad he stayed at notre dame instead of taking the lsu dc job.

Acknowledging that ND is taking a huge risk hiring someone with zero HC experience is not LSU fans being “mad” that the guy accepted a HC job at ND over being a DC at LSU.

ND fans pretending like they are better off with a first time HC instead of Kelly and that Freeman was the main reason for ND’s success on the field and in recruiting when he’s been there for less than a year might be though

ND consulted Aleva, who told them job searches are a waste of time.

ND isn’t in a conference. How does the bowl game have any less meaning than any other game ND played this year? Playing for a Top 5 finish would seem plenty meaningful to me. That doesn’t mean I think Freeman should be judged on one game alone, but this mantra about bowls being meaningless is being taken way too far. Are we all ready to just stop following a team the second their shot at a national title is gone? Is that really what we have reduced this sport to?

What will be your reaction if LSU loses to K State.
Or offense is terrible.
Or defense?
