That was hardly Miles' fault. LSU was 10-2, went 7-1 in the SEC and lost in the SECCG, were ranked in the top 10 and the New Years' Bowls passed LSU over. So, we play another top 10 team and ream them. I'd say that's more impressive than beating Notre Dame in many respects.

So it is unreasonable to actually win a championship after being in a position to compete for one for 3 straight years?

What if Miles wins the SEC championship saturday? Are all you bashers gonna be happy to lose a coach that went to two sugar bowls, a peach bowl and won an SEC championship?

It will be an improvement, but still an underachievement based on the position LSU was in this season.

He left a history of underachievement, and if we lose Saturday it just further illustrates that. I am not sure how anyone can deny this fact.

Let's see...LSU improves from 9-3 in 2004 to 11-2, competing for the West title. Then, LSU goes 11-2 in 2006 and wins the Sugar Bowl, with an offense that is actually less productive than the one they have in 2007. In 2007, LSU wins their division again, scores 40+ a game on offense, but the defense gives up 93 pts in 2 losses (and a ton of pts in some of the wins). LSU's defense underachieved in 2007, LSU's offense underachieved in 2006. It is not easy to win championships, no matter how hard you try to make yourself believe that it is.
Question: How many coaches have won multiple BCS titles since 1996?

All your points are valid, but it does not change the fact that he had a team good enough to win an SEC or even national championship for the past 3 years and has not managed to do either.

So,what you are saying is regardless if LSU had won the National Title this year, you wouldn't have given him any credit for it,right ?

You (myself included) better hope for two things:
1. UM doesn't offer the job to Les.
2. They find a good coach to stay there 10 years.
second thing you better hope for is a win this Saturday. I was getting very attached to Les; if we totally blow up this season because he wanted to go to Michigan I don't want him anymore.

im saying it was not unreasonable to expect some type of significant championship with this team the past 3 years, and we now have none.
Doomsday scenario: LSU gets hammered by UT, and the Hat stays. Then he would have to deal with the mess this season became.

That's like saying Candyman in the mirror 3 times, never repeat that. I already have nightmares.

So, you want to wager that Les has already agreed to go to Michigan? Bold. Or that he eventually does go. Not so bold.

If he hasnt accepted and does not plan to accept and loses Saturday, he will regret his decision to not take the job every day for the rest of his life.

Based on what? Your assumption on how talented they are? The national media thinking that LSU is talented? What exactly is the basis for this? Remember last year when everyone on earth thought that Ohio State was good enough to win a national title?
The team I watched all year long for LSU is not good enough to win a national title. They do not have the great depth on defense like people think they do, when the starters get hurt, playing them at 50% is a better option than playing the backups at 100%, and that is a problem. The defense is a shell of itself, not because of coaching, but because of injuries. Plain and simple.
Last year, LSU's team was really good, but couldn't get it done on the road in just one of two really tough road games. Winning one of those 2 games puts LSU in the SECCG and possibly the national title game.
In 2005, if you just ignore the whole Katrina thing and what effects it had on the season (which would be retarded, but that's not important), LSU was not good enough to win a title that year. Maybe the SEC, but not a national title. JR in 2005 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< JR in 2006.

Thats 3 years of excuses there. Im saying that if we were that close for the past 3 years, its not unreasonable for something to have worked out just 1 time in those three years.

Miles has a chance to silence his critics this weekend. Win the sec championship and all should be well. Lose and that makes it three years in a row where he had one the best if not the best cars in the race and failed to get it done. The questions about his coaching ability will and should remain.

1. This year isn't over. If LSU wins Saturday, you should promise to stop posting for a month.
2. Sometimes things just don't work out. Look at UGA this year -- great season, they will have nothing to show for it at all. Are they hanging Mark Richt out to dry? He has never even sniffed a national title run and he has 2 SEC championships in his 8 years there, but Miles is supposed to have several in 3? Get off it. It's ridiculous!

Yes if only Miles wins this game he will silence his critics. Boy where I have heard that before.

I wonder if Coker's available. He could get us a few awesome years (according to you) if Les leaves.
