I read a Michigan site, and I was reading about their likes/dislikes of Miles. I just want to say this...

That Outside the Lines hatchet job on Miles about over-signing was total BS. Miles is one of the most honest guys to high school recruits out there. All of the recruits confirm this. In the SEC, Miles has probably oversigned less than about half of the other SEC teams. I don't know how a story about a 3rd string QB that was getting passed on the depth chart by a true freshman (would have made Chris Garret 4th) turned into an oversigning issue, or why OTL chose to make Miles the coach that does this the most.

Almost all LSU fans have some concerns about Les Miles, but his dealing with recruits and how he treats his players is not one of them.

CG got fat and lost his motivation. Miles has been stand up since arriving at LSU.

I still have not watched the outside the lines report. I'm guessing its best just to not watch it.

Have to agree. Miles has his issues. Mistreating recruits is not one of them.

Ain't this the truth. No even close to being on the radar, and OTL was clearly outside the lines of good journalism and judgment to air that and create an image that was just dead wrong.

I have plenty of problems with Miles, and this is not one of them in the slightest.

Thanks for vote of confidence on Les, but this is one Wolverine fan that has been a fan since I found out about how he helped out with players during Katrina.

I was unaware of him prior, and his roots to Michigan(dont follow other teams normally).

I actually asked about this earlier today and got several positive responses.
I really like Les Miles and I think he is the best candidate for this job. The media tries to give a bad rap to people all the time, thats why I wanted to get LSU fans take on the situation. I imagine you guys would be honest about it. What really irritated me was reading some Mich fans calling Miles morals into question over the situation. We just faced our own media scandal ala the Detroit Free Press and were quick to assume the paper just took the players quotes out of context. I don't understand why some of our fans are so quick to take what was said on OTL at face value.

LSU players love him, and Les would do anything for them. He's one of the most genuine coaches in college football. I may have a problem with some of his play calling, but I've never had a problem with him as a person.

My take on Les. Good guy, which helps with getting players motivated and playing for him.

Great recruiter, but he is in Louisiana and representing LSU, which makes that easier.

Sometimes Les seems to have lapses in chronological thinking during a game time situation and will occasionaly shite the bed, but most of the time he pulls a rabbit out of his arse. He does seem to have unexplainable mojo.

Overall, he's a good guy and can win with the right recruits. You would do decent with him, but we would kick your arse, b/c you aint getting our recruits.

The recruits are the difference between UM and LSU. Its easier to make a mediocre coach look good at LSU than it is at UM.

Miles is the most honest NCAA coach in America. The players and their parents love him. He is a good man. Our fanbase has just gotten to the point where most love him despite his blunders on Saturdays.... I hope he stays. If not I will root for him at Michigan 100%.

I have never seen any good reason to question him as a person. He actually does lots of charity work without alerting the media that most people never hear about. Solid graduation rates, very few player arrests, players think of him as a father figure.

His emotions get the best of him sometimes when he is speaking and his clock management is terrible. At the end of the day, he hires great assistants and wins lots of game while running a very clean program. He would do great at Michigan and I would not blame him for leaving as fans intentionally made him feel very unappreciated this season.

you guys don't have to sell him to me!! I've wanted him here since 2007 and want him here even more now! Maybe you guys should create some accounts over on there and reassure these posters that Miles is a great guy and everything will be alright if he comes to Michigan :)

Nah, he has some issues, but the personal attacks are completely unwarranted. I want him to stay but I felt bad for him earlier this season with all the attacks that were directed at him. Could not blame him at this point for going anywhere, much less his alma mater. This is something I got recently after reading about this guy getting shot a week earlier.

Randy Cangelosi wrote the following:

I have a personal story to share. My cousin, Charlie Cangelosi, was shot after the Alabama game while trying to help a pregnant lady that was screaming when being robbed by some evil-doers. The perpetrators sped off in a car that night while Charlie laid on the ground with a bullet through his mid-section. Charlie survived, and the media picked up the story about how Charlie risked his life to save another in need. On Wednesday after the shooting, Charlie's parents got a call from the OLOL(Our Lady of the Lake Hospital) administration, with a message from Les Miles asking for permission to visit Charlie. Being big LSU fans, they granted permission. Les indicated he would be there around 6 pm on Wednesday.

Right on time, Les showed up . alone, no cameras, no bodyguard, in his coaching outfit. He was extremely kind to the parents and was allowed to go into the room where Charlie was still in critical care. Though Charlie had been in a medically induced coma and had intubation in his mouth preventing verbal communication, Charlie was able to see Les and communicate with eye-blinking. Les told Charlie that the world needed more people like him, that he was a champion and that when he was better (remember, at this time he was "touch and go"), Charlie could come to any home game next year and stay on the field with the team or sit with Les's family in their box. Les then pulled out an autographed LSU football for Charlie. After this pleasant visit, Les explained that he had to leave. It was Game Week (the Monroe game was coming up) and Les had to prepare for his radio show that was just a few minutes away. When listening to the radio show that night, Charlie's family heard that it was Les's birthday, too. OK, so this man took an hour of his day during Game Week, on the day of his radio show, and on the day of his birthday, to say thank you and give a game ball to a stranger? Wow.

That is why Les runs such a clean program. Yes, he has made some clock and time out mistakes and our offense needs to be revamped, but this is why LSU's program is still a Top 10 program. How could you not want to play for someone like this? His players never quit, graduate, stay out of trouble and have an uncanny knack of being able to comeback numerous times. Like in 2007, Les has won me over . again.
