The Administration at that school sucks and won't give the program the tools to be successful long term. There is ZERO alignment at that school.

agreed. I thought MM should've been interviewed in 2016. "Solid" is the right adjective though. TBD if he moves beyond "solid" or craters.

I don’t think Nick Saban could turn FIU around with the limitations they have and the Athletic department working directly against the program

Solid hire but can't imagine wanting to get into the mess down there if what Butch Davis said was even 50% true.

yeah, very true. And their window of opportunity might be closing even more with Cristobal entering the picture on the recruiting front.

Something in the water in S FL when it comes to administrations and athletics.

MacIntyre is a good coach, but I doubt he’s the miracle worker that school needs.

That stinks. This was the first time in a while Memphis had a somewhat competent defense. If im not mistaken he was still making money off of CSU or something but I think that ran out this year.

I think Macintyre is a good coach. However he chooses shitty places to work. Colorado isn't worth a shite and FIU is that last place anyone should want to work. Accepting that job makes me question Macintyre more than anything.

si article about Butch Davis criticizing FIU
quote:

According to McMurphy, the school has declined Davis's request for a one-year extension once his current deal expires on Dec. 15. Over the weekend, he was informed that this will be his final year with the Panthers.

FIU posted a job opening for a head football coach in early October, which led to some questions about Davis's status. FIU is 1–9 this season.

"This year has been a nightmare," he said, according to McMurphy. “You can imagine the players’ reaction when a head coach’s job was posted online. The administration has been sabotaging the program. Their decisions to post the job has resulted in a major negative impact on the football program and our ability to recruit and retain players.”

Davis cited a number of financial challenges that the program faces, affecting everything from recruiting to team equipment. Due to budget constraints and the impact of COVID-19, Davis says that his staff was not allowed to recruit on the road over the past two years. The team has not had new uniforms in nine years and even resorted to wearing used pads from Mississippi State after he discovered the team was using decade-old equipment when he took over in 2017.

This shite is inexcusable. Shut the program down if you aren’t going to support it

My father in law got his degree there mostly because it was an easy drive for him and was cheap (he was an immigrant that had two young kids). It's mostly a commuter school for lower/middle income locals with lots of Latino students. It doesn't have the history or name to become an athletic powerhouse.
