Is there any scenario where you could see Fisher being the head coach and O remaining on the staff?
I just don't see it

Yes, O has a great job as LSU's dline coach and recruiting coordinator. Why wouldn't he want to stay?

If O loves LSU the way that he says he does, why would he leave, unless he was offered a HC position somewhere?

We shall see if he was sincere on his feelings towards LSU. If he goes to bama, than I will feel the same when he was at Tennessee and ole piss, good coach but would trash lsu to get what he wanted.

If he wins over Florida and A&M, I'm sure he would feel a good bit jaded that we bring in someone else, regardless of who it is

And give him a raise for his work as interim

I saw that too. I don't trust people "in the know".

But he does deserve it.

Perfect is the enemy of good, that's what I'd tell O if I could talk to him.

I don't know why he would feel jaded. He should have no questions as to why LSU has reservations about hiring him full time. The stain of that OM stint will stick with him until he takes his own and builds them into a success. Even if it's an FCS school, that could translate into a respectable FBS job. Jim Tressel went from freaking Youngstown St to OSU, don't tell me it can't be done.

Sometimes you need to take that 3 yard gain if it's there rather than deciding to simply not run just because you can't bust the 80 yard TD run. At least with the 3 yard gain you're making progress. That's pretty much how every great coach has done it.

Maybe O subconsciously knows he doesn't have the goods to come up the hard way.
