Bill Luchie from College Station spoke to finebaum and said he thinks Mack Brown will leave next year and the two names he thinks will be at the top are Boise State coach Chris Peterson and Les Miles.

I know they pay a lot of money, but don't see Les leaving for UT.

That's Billy Luicci of TexAgs.com

And I think Saban's track record leads to him jumping ship and not staying at Bama forever. Also, Texas is very boastful and will pay obscene money just to prove they can

And Mack just had a losing conference record 2 years in a row. Last time that happened at UTa was 1937 & 1938.

If you're breaking 80 year old records in a bad way your seat is fire hot

Yeah, his name has been mentioned as being on a short list of replacements whenever Mack does step down..2-3 yrs more IMO. No buzz/rumors I've ever heard regarding Miles though.

dumb comment...but, If that's the case we'll be boastful and hire a Petersen or a Miles before we hire a Sumlin.

Did they bring up Saban to the Cowboys?

Sexton met with representatives of the Cowboys last week. a meeting was held last Friday in ATL. It is my understanding Saban then met with the same rep prior to the SECCG

We won't be paying Sumlin big money. My bet is $2.25M for 4 or 5 years.

Texas is a new beast now than they were in 1998. Especially financially. Mack is worth every penny of his $5M. Petersen is also likely IMO when Mack is forced to retire a la DKR

Mack will not be coaching the Longhorns in 2014. He will either resign after next season or after 2013 season. He is going to take over the AD role from Deloss Dodds.

At least that is what my source told me...things change but that is the plan as of now.

They really think they can get Petersen when every other job has been offered to him for five years? He's a Boise lifer unless the situation with his son changes.

I read somewhere on the Shag that the kid's doctor was moving to Austin. Sorry, no link, but this was a few weeks ago.

Neither Les Miles nor Nick Saban will coach at UT. Where do people get this crap?

Sumlin could very well turn out to be a good hire. I won't doubt the guy just yet...his 1st big job(if hired) will be to shore up your recruits. It does help that his name has been mentioned by at least one of your recruits as their choice for the job.

Yeah, I've heard similar rumblings about the AD position...although that talk has seemed to cool off. I would also agree that 2 yrs instead of 3 may be his limit before moving on.

Matt Davis and Bralon Addison are both vocally for Sumlin. Davis will come regardless.

Tbh, I'm not worried about the majority of the class. There's normally a recruiting bump with a coach change. Not the other way around
