FSU expects clarity from Fisher-Texas A&M
Jimbo Fisher Update
The situation between Florida State and its current head coach, Jimbo Fisher, has reached a point where decisions have to be made, a source indicated to Noles247 on Wednesday evening.
Specifically, it was suggested that the University has grown tired of the unknown with regards to Fisher’s future status in Tallahassee and the dangling of an offer from Texas A&M over their head.
There is also a strong belief within the hierarchy at FSU that Fisher is likely to accept the Texas A&M offer at this time and depart for College Station after eight seasons as FSU’s head coach
With that in mind, some form of an announcement from Florida State University about the future of their football head coaching position is being discussed for some point on Thursday.
Fisher, who at this time is set to speak with the media on Thursday evening, also potentially could comment on his status, something he has been unwilling to do over the past week.
Texas A&M, which has a regents meeting scheduled for Thursday, could also be prepared to make a more formal announcement regarding the future direction of its football program. The future of the football program is on the agenda for the meeting, including discussion of issues relating to the appointment of a new head football coach. More details on that meeting can be found here. It remains unknown if Fisher has formally agreed to accept the vacant head coaching position. To our knowledge, no formal agreement has been entered.
FSU has been preparing for this possibility over the past several days and that includes putting out feelers regarding potential future head coaches. As previously reported, Oregon’s Willie Taggart is currently considered the top option being discussed as a potential replacement if Fisher indeed accepts the offer from the Aggies.

These are pretty solid links, though. Newberg is pretty solid on 247.

I said the same thing when LSU wanted Fisher. He is a 3-4 loss coach. I am sorry paying a 7.5-8 million a year guarantee is not worth 3-4 losses. It is stupid to pay more for same result or slight improvement.
Fisher will be an improvement over Sumlin but, he is not Saban or Myer. He will likely make aTm a consistent 9-10 win team, which is an improvement, but that is not worth 3-4 losses. aTm has the money to blow and it is obvivous they are trying to buy championships.
Fisher move is smart because the SEC west is down and 5 of 7 SEC west teams will have new coaches. Also, Saban wont be around forever, I say 3-4 more years. It is a prime opportunity to make the jump to a program that will just out spend everyone.

However, the worth angle is tricky. He was clearly the top available coach that is possible of poaching (saban, urbs, dabo arent leaving). So his worth is pretty much there I guess

His buyout if he leaves is relatively small but they can negotiate down on that too if he leaves now. I don’t really understand why he would want to coach that game at this point and subject him and his players to it. It won’t be pretty.

Fisher was burnt out this year and that team was pathetic considering the talent they have.
A change of scenery is likely what he needed

FSU should pursue Schiano...LOL

its been suggested that he made up his mind that he was leaving back in september and that may have been a leading cause of this season turning into a dumpster fire

This mindset's exactly why Alleva thought it was ok to hire Orgeron.

What freaking more can you ask for. Win 10 games a year and hope for a couple of breaks here and there. Get the best coach that you can right? He costs what he costs.
These coach salaries are only going to continue to escalate. If you have it in your mind that Saban/Meyer are in one price tier and everyone gets scaled down from there then you're doing it wrong. The latest contracts are usually going to be scaled up because of growing economy in CFB.
