I recall hearing the same thing some years ago. What source? If Les is confiding in anyone, he's not confiding in anyone who would become a "source". At least, I don't think so.

"Very interested in meeting" with them does not mean very interested in taking the job.

I just thought I'd share Sportscenter's take considering the fiasco three years ago.

Haven't we learned to not take everything you hear on ESPN as the whole story. They headline grab. It's speculation for the most part.

Miles has always been interested in the Michigan job, but there continues to be one little detail getting in the way - the interest appears to be one sided.

They asked for permission to speak with him last time and his agent could not get anyone to call him back while LSU was in the throws of haphazardly reworking his contract.

They haven't even asked permission to speak with him this go around.

I just cannot trust anything ESPN says. This don't mean he isn't going. ESPN just lies a lot. Can we say Herbstreet. Sorry if i misspelled it.

To be fair to Kirk, it seem more plausible he was used by a Michigan insider..to leak the information "Miles coming to Michigan"...but Michigan had not offered the job... (It's about the divisions inside Michigan football)

there is a very interesting thread on LSU scout that I think explains all the madness.

the AD at the time had to make it look like Michigan was interesting in hiring Les to satisfy factions inside the Michigan camp, then they could go and get the next guy that the power faction wanted, which was the Rutgers coach...then he changed his mind...then RR was a 3rd or 4th choice.. No one got their guy..thus RR was never fully embraced.

A lot of Michigan folks want Miles....so he will likely get an offer this time around.. "But! Will he leave LSU?"

This isn't a done deal and the devil is always in the details, but this whole Miles to Michigan, Pelini to LSU story holds water and makes sense. I say this under the assumption that both the Mich. and LSU athletic directors know what they're doing -- perhaps an unsafe assumption to make. But I doubt Michigan is going to offer the job to Les w/o a pretty good damn indication he's going to accept - I assume they want to avoid a very public, media circus, with daily ESPN reports on the latest coach to turn down Michigan. Same w/ LSU -- Alleva isn't going to offer the job to Gary Patterson, have him turn it down, move on to the next guy, etc. This stuff is already being greased. If he offers the job to Pelini it's b/c he's convinced he'll accept, if offered.

Les is out to strengthen his position. If he can get a raise and extension and a raise for his assistants you can bet he will leverage this situation to his benefit.

As he should.

Seems like we have heard that before. How did that work out?Miles has the best contract in college football and he is smarter than the idiots that want him out.Get over it, he isn't leaving LSU for Michigan.
