With Pelini as DC the previous year everyone behind the defensive line was lost and out of position. Don't know if was coaching from Baker or over all a better scheme on defense that made Clark look better. It could be that he worked a lot harder to make himself a better player also.

he's a great recruiter, and Damone Clark looked a lot better than he did previously, even under Aranda... was that Baker's doing? don't know exactly, but it ain't nothing, especially the recruiting part... 2 of our better recruiters have now left, and while we did get Frank back, he can't recruit everybody

Of course it was baker's coaching. Look what he did with baskerville too. Mike jones was also rounding into form at the end of the year.

Seems like he let baker go. I don't want to hear the bullshite about keeping coaches from a bad regime. He already kept dqvis and baker is a bright spot.

This is the right perspective imo.

The thought shouldn’t be whether the guy is “better” or “worse” than whoever Kelly brings in—the point is that he wants something DIFFERENT. If you have trust in BK’s hiring over O’s, you should trust the different—even if, at first blush, it doesn’t appear to be “better” in a vacuum.

ALSO - whenever Baker first got hired there was quite a bit of chatter that it was a bad hire. People are just salty now because they convinced themselves of him in the meantime. I personally think baker has done a nice job but he’s far from some type of irreplaceable star coach imo. Miami fans were glad to be rid of him (tho Tbf I think LB coach suits him much better than DC).

Bottom line: This is the last thing in the world that anyone should be worked up about

Kelly is building a championship program from the ground up. Nobody knows how screwed up lsu really was. There is no culture. That’s why Palmer was told to leave. Just like BK said. It’s going to be on the players to hold other players accountable. You can’t do that with bad apples.
this is kinda hyperbole but not completely.

I.dont think the program was completely destroyed yet, but just because we have a favorable opinion of a coach doesn't mean that's how Kelly and other coaches see them.

Anyone who has ever worked in a place with a few people knows there are a lot of good performers who dont fit the team...or cause other issues.

No one on this board knows the inner workings of the lsu coaching staff, nor what brian Kelly wants in a staff.

Hell it could simply be schematic or philosophical disagreements between the new and old coaches.

Just saying there's much more to it than a fans perspective of what we consider "performance"

This dude has been on a streak of calling stuff lately. He called the DC target being the KC LB coach, Raymond leaving, and Baker leaving all before they broke by various LSU media outlets. Will be interesting to see how long his streak lasts until his source is found out and cut off.

Why would LSU pay $25 million to get rid of Orgeron and his staff just to retain a bunch of them?
