I just don't see Woodward going through all the bullshite of firing Orgeron mid-season to hire Bill O'Brien. If that was who he wanted, he could have just waited until the end of the season because no one else is hiring that guy. It would be an epic failure of a hire on the surface and I don't see Woodward putting himself in that position.

Those of us in Texas know what a miserable f'ing job BoB did in Houston.
His grossly inflated opinion of himself literally destroyed an NFL franchise, and his performance in Tuscaloosa will likely get him a train ticket out of Dodge.

The LSU opening is GREAT leverage for coaches throughout the country. Thus, any agent worth a damn is going to get their client "mentioned" as a candidate...even if LSU has no desire whatsoever to hire that guy. Mel Tucker, after ONE good season, which may not really be all that good purportedly has an offer worth $9.5 million annually to remain at MSU. James Franklin just agreed to a big 10 year deal...despite just having a decent season at Penn St. Mark Stoops's agent is trying desperately to convince the world LSU is interested in Stoops. BoB's star has fallen significantly over the last few years and his agent wants to get some shine back on his profile. What better way to do that than make it appear LSU is considering paying him big money to lead their program.
Who represents these guys? Jimmy Sexton. He's getting/trying to get his guys raises by using the open LSU job as the fulcrum

Yeah that was offensive. We’re not a “crumbling powerhouse” we’ve just had a bad year. The right coach can fix this quickly.
