You've got to be kidding me with the O for HC influx after that win. You guys are forgetting what the expectations for this team were before all the shite hit the fan after Auburn. This team was SUPPOSED to be Ole Miss. This team was SUPPOSED to compete for the west based on talent alone, and that was with Miles and Cam.

I'm glad we won, but talk to me about O when we beat teams we're not supposed to.

Which candidate has done that? Without losing to teams he should beat that is??

Jimbo didn't lose yesterday. I think he should be #1 again.

Your post is one long contradiction. How can CEO beat teams we shouldn't be beating if we are supposed to beat everyone? If your referencing Bama, just say he needs to beat Bama. It's much simpler and your actual point comes across.

Which other candidate has a losing record as a Head Coach? And don't give me the "well as an interim he'a 9-2" garbage. Being an interim HC is not the same as being a full time face of a program that has to sustain a program.

Didn't he take over a pretty bad OM team? Recruited his arse off, then just as he got his players in the system, got canned.

Freeze himself, who was on staff at the time, said he didn't get enough time. Said it was about to turn around for them.

So by that logic, Houston Nutt should have successful right?

he has to win SECCG to get serious consideration from me. We must look 10 to 15 years forward with next hire.

Would have to win natty to be a lock.

Pretty sure they had a winning record the next year with Nutt.

Preseason polls are worthless:

By poll standards Oklahoma was top 5: Wrong

Tenn was Top 10: wrong

Florida St was Top 5: wrong

Week 2 Georgia was Top 10: so wrong

Funny how people use polls when they suit their purpose, but when they don't suddenly polls "don't mean crap".

I don't want Orgeron as HC, but I still don't get why this is getting hit on so hard by some. There's been plenty written and the guy has admitted himself he did things completely wrong and it is not reflective on his approach to coaching now. He straight up did some pretty stupid stuff but seems to have learned from it.

Houston Nutt and OM went to two straight Cotton Bowls based on the talent O recruited to OM.

So yes Nutt won with O's players. When they were gone so was nutt...52-3 or whatever in 2011 was Nutt's rercruits

Im not knighting for Coach O unless LSU wins out but he's a better coach now than he was at OM. It's not even close.

Nothing has changed...

To get the LSU job, O has to do something "special." He will get that chance over the next few weeks.

If he doesn't do something "special," he won't get the job. Simple as that.

Exactly my point. Fatass Bert gets all these passes for going winless in the West. People still think he is a good coach, and people have mentioned him for the LSU job. Yet O gets zero credit for pulling talent to OM, talent he could have possibly won with.

Okay?

I still rather a guy who beats teams he shouldn't with less talent, even if he drops games he should win.

Because that guy with elite talent can probably compete with anyone.

They all lose games they shouldn't.

Urban does it, Saban did it, especially in his first gig.. it happens. I just want either an offensive or defensive genius HC.. like Urban or Saban.. that way regardless when coordinators leave.. they always still have great offense or defense.

Because his new formula, letting everyone else do the hard work for him, won't work long term either.

Letting them do their job isn't the same thing.

yes and no.
Tubby and Cutcliffe took OM bowling every year from '97 - '03.
other than '03, none were "special", none were terrible.

'04 was a rebuilding year and Cutcliffe's only bad season and he got canned.

O came in and was only able to win a combined 10 games in 3 years.
3 of those 10 wins was against 1AA schools.
his only 3 SEC wins were against Kentucky, Vandy, and Mississippi St. Those three teams COMBINED to win a whopping 4 conference games in years he beat them.

Honestly, you surround coach O with the best OC (not saying CSE is the best. But he's better) and DC in the nation and he wins. Wow. Surround me with the best OC and DC in the nation and I bet I'd win a few too. And I love LSU. Where do I get my shot? I love coach O but he's not the best we can get.
