NFL, Bama, Texas are always going to be threats at least. Just is what it is.

Maybe NFL.

I don't think we need to worry about Bama or Texas.

He covets the Alabama job

There is nothing to indicate this.

Sure, Alabama has more resources than we do, the same way we have more than Ole Miss, but not nearly to the same extent.

By all accounts Saban made him pretty miserable while there, even if it may have been for his own good, and left on bad terms.

It was also a part of his life he has spoken about where he was not in a good place personally.

While he certainly seems grateful now for Saban and what that opportunity gave him, I don’t think he looks back fondly at his Alabama days at all.

He will do this again and we will have to sit through it and not bitch about it. Enjoy the ride while we are on it.

No.

He will have success at LSU, possibly win a championship, and then in 4-5 years will do the same thing to them dragging them along to leverage a big NFL job.

He’s been this way since his first big job at Tennessee in 2009. At least for LSU, he won’t leave them for another college team. It will be the NFL.

He’s going to be fired in 4 years like everyone else who coaches that shithole.

Do you remember what Saban said was his biggest mistake/regret. If Lane considers himself a protégé, he would do well to grab that wisdom.

Different era now though with NIL and portal

Only thing that may keep him out of the NFL is that he already gave it a go and failed

Possibly but I think it’s naive to assume they’re not at least potential threats when they open. Some people also get bored and enjoy rebuilding being the hero and reaching the top of the mountain again and again. Who knows with Lane.

Quitting on his team at the most important time in their history begs to differ!

It certainly would be awesome if he retired at 75 on the field directly after winning his 9th title.

It’s certainly arguable.

Regardless, I said the difference between LSU/OM is nowhere near the same as LSU/UA, as in it likely isn’t compelling enough to see him leave BR for Tuscaloosa any time soon barring some other unknown factors.

Just win one natty and/or have us in the CFP most years. If he can do that for 4-5 years I’ll be happy. I want LSU to be the next Georgia. Consistency is so refreshing
