Sure he started off the season rough vs teams like kentucky and ucla, but our defense has been awesome as of late. I feel that since our defense has bought into his scheme we have done very well. I don't see a reason to push him out after one year that's ending really solid.

The days of TigerDroppings having any kind of influence on coaching hires are over.

he has a high salary for what he produces.. other DC have a much lower salary and produce a better defense.

I like Daronte and I don’t doubt O’s influence hampered him, but with our budget, we need a proven DC.

I would've been ecstatic with marcus freeman if BK pulled him in but besides him I think we should stick with him

I want the new coach to pick his own coaches that he feels are best for the team.

I trust BK.
But there are so many better DCs out there that we can get with our budget. If it were me, I'd consider offering Jones the safeties coach position if the new DC wants him there

I don’t really care.

If Kelly wants to keep him then I’m excited about his potential.

If Kelly wants to replace him Jones hasn’t done enough for me to be mad about it.

I'm not against it if that's what Kelly chooses. He is the head man, sit back and let him get at it.

I'm not convinced that Daronte even got to call the defense until the last few weeks. Painfully obvious that O was meddling

Really wished I knew the story behind the turnaround on defense the last four games.

Why were we so lackluster for 8 games and so good for 4 games?

If O was meddling until he got canned, and Daronte really coordinated the D only for the last four games, then I would give him a long look.

Cause that was impressive.

He's done absolutely nothing in recruiting and he was OK for like 4 games with analysts installing blitzes for him. He's never made a halftime adjustment, never played freshmen safeties even in garbage time even though all their redhsirts were burned etc etc. Why would we ever hire anyone over him?

I don't want him gone. I like him, and think he did a really good job in the last half of the season. If CBK wants to keep him, I'm good with it. I just don't see that happening. He's gonna go out and get a great DC. If CBK wanted to hire an established DC and have him groom Daronte as a co-DC and safeties coach for when established DC eventually leaves, that would be awesome too. but that is dependent on so many other variables.

His salary is that of an ace recruiter with multiple Top 10 defenses. Theres no way Kelly has a blank check and chooses the same DC Ed picked with a blank check.

if he is a great recruiter I would love to find a way to keep him. But we have to trust that BK will hire what he wants and his knowledge of who would be a great fit.

I want who Kelly wants. I am just glad for one thing. I am glad Kelly isn't trolling tigerdroppings to decide who he should hire like our last coach.

If BK keeps him, he believes he has to potential to get it done. If BK replaces him, my guess is that we went with someone who is proven.

He started off very very rough and extremely vanilla. The switch in play calling is almost exclusively related to losing many personnel and a suggestion from another head coach as stated by Orgeron. It was speculated by members on this board that it was O who was meddling poor but there is no way to be sure. Also, Kiffin highlighted how predictable and basic we were. Additionally, our back 7 specifically the safety’s and LBs were putrid in pass coverage all season. Our LBs were near abysmal in the rush game from a technique POV. It’s amazing that Clark could be so bad at LB but lead the nation in tackles, speaks to his world class athletic ability and speed.

We went from blitzing 0% of the time to almost 50% after Ole Miss. That’s a direct result of losing nearly the whole starting defense and playing with nothing to lose. Got to effect the pocket to protect the secondary.

The only point in retaining Jones would be for the sake of this year’s recruiting. He never made second half adjustments that worked. Our defense would get worse as every game played out through quarters. Especially in the 3rd Q. Go check out the box scores.
