Everyone is saying we need diversity…..football coaches, basketball coaches, school AD, President etc. well if you really want diversity, especially with a new football coach, you must also want diversity with the players, not just football but basketball etc. percent of Asians, Hispanics, blacks, and whites….would correlate with population……
Then you can expand diversity to why do you have a black Miss America… that has to be racist excluding all others.I can go on and on… what I am saying is hire the best person for the job any job

I don't think everyone is saying it. Probably just the Tate and Ryan Clark.
Hopefully it's all just a smokescreen and LSU hires a big name or the most qualified.
I hate the politics of Louisiana so much. I doubt this would be happening at any other major football university.

Sometimes it’s best to just keep these thoughts upstairs

Screw diversity. I’ve had enough diversity at the expense of excellence for one lifetime.

This is some serious mental gymnastics.

I know some of you are triggered by that word and diversity for its own sake is not good but the 2 most prominent "diversity" names being mentioned Franklin and Tucker are both qualified. Yes, they may not have prefect resumes but they are not unqualified either,

I wanted to respond to you in the other thread on Mel Tucker where a poster said we would end up like FSU. However, that thread was whacked.
Here is my reply.
We don't know how it would end up, but FSU forced a hire of a particular coach, Taggert. He was a 5-7 type of coach.
16-20 at western kentucky
24-25 at south florida
7-5 at oregon
and het got the FSU job when it was still a respectable football program.
Honestly it's not even fair to compare Tucker to Taggert, but he still doesn't have the resume to warrant an LSU job at this point in his career. IMO of course.
I don't think LSU would become a Tennessee or a FSU, but I would be very disappointed in forcing a particular hire just for the sake of diversity. Go get a more proven coach please.

Taggart accepted the head coaching job at Florida State, replacing Jimbo Fisher.[11] In his first season, the Seminoles finished 5-7, their first losing season on the field since 1976, Bobby Bowden's first year. They were not invited to a bowl for the first time since the end of the 1981 season, breaking the longest active bowl appearance streak in FBS.

In no way is Tucker qualified given his current resume. IMO of course. That's just absurd to say otherwise. He would not be a consideration at any top 5 college football program at this point in his career.

Well I could be wrong , but I believe it is an old,old wooden ship used during the civil war era.

Well you have a point. Forced Diversity should at least be consistent.

A lot of assumptions are being made about Tate right now that are not fair. I will not use the R word because that is just a loaded term, but people are letting their politics cloud their judgement. The President of the University will have to sign off on any coach hired regardless of the President or the AD being in that position. That is just the nature of higher education. This idea that Tate would be hands off is just silly, it NEVER works that way.
