My brother in law is a lawyer and he told me over thanksgiving that contracts have to be notarized otherwise they ain't binding. I find it curious all the reports talk about him SIGNING but don't mention notarization. Texas still in play?

Other than contracts that are by law specifically required to be in authentic form (two witnesses and a notary), i.e., contracts to buy and sell immovable property, I don't know of any employment contracts that require a notarized signature for their validity.

WOW!!!!!!

If you have to have a signature notarized than he can't sign the contract unless it is in front of a notary so that they can notarize that it is his signature on the dotted line.

Notarization affects the burden of proof in the event the contract is later challenged, not it's initial binding legality (with some wills being an exception).

All the Contracts I have signed you typically bring it with you to the Notary and you sign in the presence of the Notary and then he Notarizes it for you and takes your money. I just did one here in Manila and cost about 10 Dollars.
