What if jimbo wants to much and

Herman wants to wait to see what Texas does.

What if coach o does go out and hire a very good offensive cd and they bring along a good qb coach, would the pro jimbo or Herman crowd still keep coach o

I think our fans have to realize the pool of good coaches for a high profile job of lsu caliber is not out there like it was last yr. The other thing is I wish we would vet sone nfl assistants.

There are so many coaches more qualified than O for this job that LSU could get without question if we don't get Jimbo or Herman, we don't need to settle for O.

Really? Who was out there last year that's would have been so much better than this year?

I think it's just typical fans being fans, meaning everybody has their "own" idea on who the next coach should be. There are issues with any coach, at that is what most people focus on.... The negatives.

As much traffic as this board is getting, chicken must be loving this??

Seems like a normal year to me. The idea of landing either Jimbo or Herman is more potential opportunity than you see most years.

It isn't every year you see a NC winning coach change programs. Even when they do they are often past their peak performance years (e.g. Spurrier or Holtz to USC rather than Meyer to tOSU or Saban to Alabama).

You also frequently don't know how good someone will be until your hindsight kicks in. Guys like Kelly in Oregon or Stoops at OU were noticed, but not screamed about from the rooftops as program-changing coaches when they were hired. Peterson to Washington is also kind of an exception because of what a deliberately low profile he keeps.

one problem:
you can't realistically hire an OC until you hire a HC.

so you hire O. then his "plan" for OC doesn't happen and he has to settle for his 3rd or 4th choice.
and Aranda takes a HC gig somewhere for next season.

now how confident are you in O?

After O got the job he talked about how him and Ensminger used to discuss what they would do if given the opportunity to be an HC/OC combo some day. From the sounds of it, I'd say O has his OC.

It's like some of these fans are still living in the 80s and 90s.

Either that or they're trying to make every excuse in the book to hire O. The irrational justification going on is astonishing.

Most fans on this board think young coaches need more experience. Nobody would've accepted Frost, maybe Fuente. This year you have Fleck, Herman, Brohm, plus the middle age guys like Gundy, McIntyre, etc.
