Meanwhile, Free Press columnist Michael Rosenberg reports today that, according to two people close to the situation, U-M athletic director Dave Brandon has not reached out to Louisiana State coach Les Miles, although Brandon could be waiting until after LSU's bowl game Friday.

But, they have reached out to Pat Fitzgerald and he doesn't want to go there. That's Germans, I know.

Maybe Michigan doesn't want Les after all?

I'm sure they are only reaching out to candidates who are done for the year.

I bet his agent has received a call. Guys nothing with Miles will come out until after the bowl game. Miles wants no distractions and I bet Michigan doesn't want another 2007 debacle all over again.

Lets get through the game tomorrow night then let it happen Saturday.

Pay attention to the team tomorrow and you'll be able to tell if he is leaving or not.

I don't think even the Michigan new stations know much. I'd imagine if they are reaching out to him, it's pretty much top secret. They don't want a peep getting out, so as far as the outside world knows, nothing is going on. I'd find it hard to believe they contact the NW coach and not Miles.

They probably don't. Besides, technically, he may not have contacted Miles, but his agent.

Exactly. If Michigan really wants Miles, they'll keep their mouth shut until his season is over. That's pretty much understood.

The FP is like anit-Michigan.

Who do you think kept on about the practice gate stuff?

Sharp was on ESPN the other day trying to insist we werent a national school, only to be shot down by several commentators.

I would look for info elsewhere. /shrug

People within the program could be mentioning other coaches just to distract folk until after tomorrow night.

Or Miles could have told them no a while ago, but he doesn't want it to look bad for his alma mater. Thus no strong denial, no 'contact', etc. The difference between now and '07 is that (a) he's older and probably closer to retirement, (b) likes it here, and (c) ESPN isn't bugging him about this.

Maybe just wishful thinking, though. I really think him leaving now would be a disaster. We'd bring in HDN or Tubbs and we'd be back in the '90s.

This is fun. Two scenarios as I see it.

Michigan already has their man and it's Les Miles. They learned their lesson last time. Mum is the word. And they're waiting until after the bowl.

Or, they fired Rich Rod without having his replacement. And they are just now conducting a "national search."

Or c, they thought they were getting Harbaugh, someone leaked the Rodriguez firing, then Harbaugh said no, but the RichRod firing got out anyway. They tried to retract it but couldn't, and are now on a national search.

Everyone knows nothing, except Dave Brandon. Every media outlet is throwing shite at the wall to see if it sticks. Brandon plays stuff close to the vest. In some ways thats a great thing that we have no leaks, in other ways, just throw us a freakin bone already. I mean really, I could say I have an unnamed source, doesn't mean my info is credible. I'm learning based on the 329829482394829432 different stories that there are no sources inside the AD. Until something comes directly out of Brandons mouth, all of this is garbage and quite frankly, it's killing me lol.

They don't want to piss him off again like they did last time. They are going to wait or hell stay at LSU

You laugh, but Les would being doing UM a favor to take that job. Harbaugh was obviously the first choice. If, UM won't give Les the respect he deserves, why bother?

I am tired of hearing "Michigan man." JUST HIRE A GOOD COACH.

Miles would be set back with all the players that were built around that spread system. If Miles were to implement the pro-style offense (the big 10 rushing attack he loves) to the team thats built around the spread now, he would have a shitty season. After that, the fans would want his head. Why risk that potential???
