Depressing? The only people who know anything about what may happen are Joe Alleva and Tom Herman. Everyone else is pumping hot air.

We aren't going to sign a high-profile coach after a week, so I'm sure even though these coaches might seem or say otherwise, they are still listening to the proposed offers and considering coaching.
Fisher and Herman are probably very in the picture, but no coach worth his salt will focus on taking a new job 4-5 weeks into a season.

Someone posted this last week. The guy is just guessing like everyone else and projecting his opinion.
Herman and Jimbo likely don't even know what they want to do right now, so whoever he talked to probably knows little more than anyone on this board.

The next 2 months are gonna be glorious with how the coaching stocks and whims of the fanbase go all over the place each week.

At his point (5 weeks into the season) no active head coach is going to say anything other than "I'm only focused on my team and our next game. I'm not looking to go anywhere. I'm happy right here." Or other words to similar effect. Sure, a Saban or a Meyer can say, "Not no, but HELL NO!" But we can't be serious about either of them coming anyway. The others, you can't judge what they might do by what they, or anyone who knows them, is saying right now.

Article put out by Football Scoop, not to be confused with Coaching Search. Both are owned and operated by brothers. Football Scoop is the more credible of the two. Coaching Search is operated by Pete Roussel who got fired from his job at Sanford by Pat Sullivan and then tended bar for a while.
The brothers grew up in New Orleans and were friends with the Mannings. Scott, the older brother, has successfully played that relationship early on to get contacts and then has developed those contacts on his own there after. Pete, younger brother, still tries to play that relationship card and it doesn't work as well any more. Now he helps fired and looking for work assistants with the resumes to try to get in good that way, therefore most of his contacts are lower level (in terms of school and on the coaching food chain) assistant coaches.
not that any of that matters, but just as an FYI that one group is pretty solid with their sources and the other might as well be a poster on this site.
