I’m predicting it won’t be either. Denbrock was demoted the last time Kelly made him an OC. As for Herman, is he really going to take an OC job at a place where he turned down the head coaching job a few years ago?

This was seven years ago, and he continued to work under Kelly for a couple more years. One demotion doesn’t mean he can’t improve, which he apparently has at Cincinnati.

He did not continue working for Kelly after having his play calling duties taken from him. He left for Cincinnati that December. Denbrock was still the play caller when Sanford was the OC for the two years after Denbrock had the OC title.
I do agree that time has passed and his body of work from 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 (5 seasons) should be considered alongside their longtime coaching relationship

Coaches are professionals. They know that sometimes changes have to be made after a bad season.
