buddy of mine mentioned this idea to me- thought it was an interesting option. Great recruiter from what I gather, although he couldn't get Pryor. Thoughts?

Whothefrickwhat? Did he convert to Judaism?

He has never had a lot of success anywhere, I hope the best for him but I don't see it happening. He is a Pitt alum fyi, some people care about that.

Way too much to read, what point are you making here?

I hope so.
That would be the end of the AU program.
That would be the end of the AU program.

Anyway, why would Wanny ever leave, unless it was for far more $$. I mean, he's at his alma mater and he's in the joke of a BCS conference that is the Big East--no powerhouse programs and no conf. championship game.
Dude has the easiest path possible to a BCS bowl and, if the dice roll just right (as they very nearly did for W Va last year), a national championship game.
Why give that up for Aubie, of all places, where the degree of difficulty is about a billion times higher?

Auburn will not hire a Northener

AU already has a coach lined up and ready to go. I really don't see them doing this without some assurance of a quality replacement. Therefore, the following are the true candidates:
Rich Rod --- before UM runs him out of town after the "get a life" statement;
Petersen (but doubtful)
Croom (yes, Croom)
Leach
Skip Holtz

That would be the perfect situation..... for us.

AU higher ups may have put out there that Croom is a candidate but he isn't. Trust me, he isn't.
Leach, Paul Johnson from GT are candidates.
I personally hope they get Leach and have him flop and fired in 3 years.
I knew AU people couldn't stand for Bama to win like they have this year. Saban having Bama ranked 15th or 20 and Tubs keeps his job. But Saban having Bama ranked #1 has driven those people insane.
AU won't win consistently like Tubs did.

After dumping a successful coach like Tubby, AU is going to need to make a splash with this hire. My guess is they had a good feeling about someone already.
